Of course everyone pretty well agrees the problem this year was a complete lack of talent that could compete at a D1 level. Great kids but KW is 100% correct. Can't shoot, pass, play strong inside, rebound, or play defense.

Except for Lemon, none of the returnees will start next year once the season is underway---They simply are not good enough for this level.

Geno appears to be doing a good job under the circumstances but he really needs to crank up the recruiting between now and the start of next season. IMO, he needs to recruit a big that is a true 5, has good hands, and can play-----Then, a super shooter who can either play the point or is big enough to play the 3 when needed.

Given this, we could play NW at the 4 since he is an excellent mid-range shooter and can help inside. With the new big at the 5, Pickett and WE could play the 3 and/or spell NW. Once the first few early season games are over, Bell should be able to start at the point, hopefully. Lemon would be the 2 but he must spend max. time in the off season intensly working on his 3 point shot and mid-range jump-stop shot. A new shooter could spell WL or spell TP and WE at the 3 when needed, if he has enough size.

The key to all of this IMO, is for Bell to start at the point and for Geno to recruit a big to play the 5 and a shooter to come off the bench.

Thinking Egolf can play the 3 (even without the two torn ACLs) is ludicrous. If you thought Bradley's defense was bad this year...

Thanks. Yes, plenty of March Madness and Valley tournament basketball to keep me busy for the next month.

I agree. With no inside presence at all , no outside consistency, no teamwork, no depth, only chance to score is to drive how many of our guys could start say@ ISU? I would say 1 at the most Atfer watching Kent State last night Even thought they lost the game the talent level and depth was refreshing to watch... aggressive, hard nosed aggresive hopefully this will give us hope for the future. I predict in 2 years every one on this board will be kissing Geno's a.....

Besides that, let the rebuilding process begin. Good luck Geno.
K Mart, you missed one important point. DS is a great kid that should have at least been given a chance to see if he could play at this level. What would it have hurt? Last I checked we were 10th in our league. Best of luck to DS whatever the future holds for him. A great young man.

Not to be a jerk but what dos the fact that DS is a good kid have to do with anything? There are good kids who play basketball all over America. Should they all get D1 scholarships?

You say DS deserves the chance to see if he could play at this level. He got the chance by getting a scholarship. He jad hundreds of opportunities every day in practice to earn playing time. He isnt owed anything more than that.

If DS werent from the area we wouldnt be having this discussion.

I know its a joke, but I think there's a lot of truth in this biology is more important than chemistry:

"The Aggies were finally healthy, they really had a sense of where everyone was on the court, when to slide over to help on defense, and when their teammates will make a move that will free them up to run to the basket or get an open look for three. The Jayhawks, however, have players who are actually naturally able to score a lot of points."*

I do not really give a rats a$$ where a player is from. I just want them to be treated with respect. Respect is a two way street and we need to be cognizant of that fact is all.

I was as excited as anyone when DS signed with Bradley Newman. But you are correct! Donivine had all season to distinguish himself in practice and impress the coaching staff enough to earn playing time... HE DID NOT DO THAT!

To question whether Donivine should have gotten playing time is the same thing as questioning Coach Ford and staff's competence. This same discussion took place when Les was our coach. We were told (rightfully) by tornado and a few others that we had to trust the coach and his staff since they are the ONLY ones who see these players compete against each other in practice everyday.

                                In Geno Ford I Trust!
