Bradley's announcement of TB being named honorable mention All-MVC:

The release includes some television info related to Thursday night's MVC-TV broadcast, as well as a link to Bradley's first-round game notes package.

Thanks - the injuries plus the 10th place finish doomed TB to get little recognition among those who voted...

I just have a lot of admiration for Doug McDermott and how much he has developed his game - I suspect very few 2 years ago would have predicted he'd be POY...
In fact - he ought to hire an agent right now and go pro --- ahem...

Hall is a good player, but Newcomer of the Year? I don't see that. Downing, Tuttle or Tyler Brown are much more deserving.

BTW -- Doug McDermott's selection as Player of the Year was NOT unanimous...not even close -
he was 1st on only 25 of 36 ballots....
Believe it or not some absolute jerk even put McDermott as 3rd....my guess was it was some jealous Shocker voter who wanted to help Stutz' chances
ALSO Taylor Brown also got one vote as 3rd in POY voting..

Colt Ryan is my player of the year as his supporting cast is not even close to what McDermott"s is, Ryan has to work twice as hard for his shot.

I like Colt too, but if it were possible I would go with a co-player of the year and award it to both Colt and McDermot.

Stutz is a great case for Nate Wells to look at. He just got better every year it seemed....I wouldn't have thought he would be an all conference player watching him as a freshman

There was a different starting point for the two, though.
Garrett Stutz was a highly rated 3-star recruit who had a very successful high school career, and was recruited by Kansas State, Kentucky, Marquette, Nebraska, Northwestern, UConn and other big schools, and was considered a recruiting coup by Wichita State-

This article says Stutz's final 3 were SMU, Kentucky, and Wichita State. It reports that Stutz attended Kentucky's Midnight Madness on October 12, 2007-

Stutz clearly was much further advanced coming into college, and did not need a redshirt year. He played a lot as a freshman and even started 12 games.

Nate Wells didn't play basketball much growing up, and was not planning to play for his high school team until the coach saw him and coaxed him to come out for the JV team as a freshman. He is definitely a late bloomer.
Here are a couple articles about Nate that were posted a while ago, but here they are again for those who haven't seen them.-

well, you'd think most everyone would agree Colt was one of the best 2 or 3 players in the Valley..
but again, look at the numbers.......Colt Ryan got only 5 1st place votes, then 11 2nd, and 9 3rd...meaning...
that 11 different members of the voting pool did NOT place Colt Ryan even among their TOP THREE!
(head coaches, SID's, radio play-by-play guys, & beat writers - 4 from each school and can't vote for your own so 36 possible votes for any individual)

Seven didn't place Stutz in their top 3 in voting...
