Someone explain end of game strategy ... 3 ptr vs 2 pt

On post game Geno said he was going for 3 if lemon wasn't fouled.... How does that make sense when Bradley is 310 of 344 teams in 3pt percentage...btw Illinois is 299 and loyola is 301.

Just seemed like going for three is just opposite of what moneyball taught us about playing percentages.

I don't think we had enough time (4.1 sec.) to drive and get a good shot off.
We didn't have an inside game, so shooting a set 3-point shot may have been our best option - either DSE or WL instead of Walt taking an off-balance circus shot to try and tie it.
