  • 2012 Recruiting- best uncommitted players left in Illinois

The Illinois high school regular season ends this weekend, but there are still some quality players uncommitted from the Illinois class of 2012.
Here is an article about the best of what is still available-

Note that Bradley is mentioned with one of the players on the list (Ka'Darryl Bell's teammate Gabe Levin), but I have heard Bradley is also very involved with other kids on the list.

How good is Kevin Jordan? I haven't seen Central this year. Would have to think a 6' 10" kid from that program with solid numbers is being heavily courted. ?

He isn't getting D1 interest and I have heard he will likely need to go to junior college.
He does look like he has potential-

I have seen Kevin Jordan - he is a good player - but in high school a kid gets good stats just by being 6-10, he needs to have plenty of other qualities for D-I coaches to offer...
One of the games I saw him play last summer at the Richwoods Shootout was perhaps one of his best games....and he's getting better from what I read...
however, he really needs to go to juco and develop before he's going to get offers

Question for those in the know about Illinois High School division 1 recruits. Given that Northwestern is probably the highest ranked division 1 school in the state of Illinois as far as RPI is concerned, is it possible that evaluators are ranking these kids too high?

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Those who said Davis, Randle, and Boatright were a notch above any of the '11 Illini were correct.

Gabe Levin - the high scoring forward from Ka'Darryl Bell's Oak Park team - is still undecided - but his two top choices are a scholarship offer from Miami (OH) that likely requires redshirting a year, and he has also been accepted at St. Thomas More prep school on Connecticut. (same school Andre Drummond went to)

Here's Rivals' list of uncommited players in Illinois from Class of 2013 that remain

Here's scout.com's list but they have it arranged by ranking top to bottom - but note ...
first - at least two of these kids on the scout.com list HAVE verballed (Whittaker & Covington) and one has moved out of Illinois (Hamilton)

Gabe Levin, who was Ka'darryl Bell's teammate at Oak Park-River Forest HS, went to Hofstra after a year of prep school. He has now decided to leave Hofstra after a coaching change, and will transfer elsewhere. He is a big kid with skills.
