I think we're going to see a big improvement from Shayok and Jalen this offseason. Shayok is the one I like the most. He reminds me of a young and bigger Taylor Brown. If Shayok improves between his freshman and sophomore year like TB did, we could be in for a treat.

Looking like these recruits by Geno were decent, especially considering how there were probably slim pickins around the time we got them.
With guys like NW and SS pegged as really hard workers, I see big things for them in years to come too. Maybe not next year, but we'll see.

The team has shown flashes of ability this season and with more experience, and more pieces, who knows!

Besides physical and BB IQ improvement, next year's team could use a credible leader whom the other players will follow...

I think the first half 3-pt shooting shows we are not consistently a "bad shooting team" - I think it is a confidence issue....
I felt there were things that led early to our shooters being confident and it paid off......
BUT -- once our guys took a couple really bad, ill-advised attempts and then missed big time - you could literally see the confidence disappear
Jalen especially - took a couple when he was way off balance and there was plenty of time to work for a better shot...Walt a couple times, too.
WE MUST WORK FOR GOOD SHOTS AND NOT LAUNCH TERRIBLE ONES!

We also played reasonable defense in the paint (after the first few minutes of lapses) as
we were NOT beaten in "Points in the Paint" - which is an oddity this season.

BUT - The loss of confidence also ruined the night for Jordan Prosser...
early on - with 38 minutes and 45 seconds remaining -- when Seth Tuttle took a short shot - you cold just see JP just assuming the shot was going in and so he just stood waiting for the ball to drop thru the net so he could inbounds it...
but the shot came off the rim and Tuttle easily went right around JP for the offensive rebound and putback.....
Then - JP was yanked on the spot and "lectured" on the sidelines...
From that point on JP's confidence and desire to compete just wasn't there....

Does anyone think Shayok clearly gives us more and has more value when he's playing within 10 feet of the hoop?
He's very active around the basket and can hit the short shot, but we all know his outside shooting (20% from 3pt) and tendency to travel & turn the ball over are problems when he's playing away from the hoop.

It seems like many of our players are a little "thin skinned" as they seem to just completely lose confidence after they take one bad shot. Obviously they cannot do that if they expect to win consistently, and they need to shrug off bad shots when they do occur as they need to recognise that there are plenty of opportunities throughout an entire game. But hopefully the offseason and more experience will help our team get mentally and physically tougher, but I was hoping for a little less of this panicking by now this late in the season. I guess this is what separates the bad teams from the good teams, or even the bad teams from mediocre teams.

I think we will be a decent team by Year 3. I'm just hoping next year we at least win some of these close games (which is a good sign that we have been competitive against certain teams this year even in defeat). And I am also hoping we can at least get out of the cellar next year even if it means just 9th place with a few more wins. Just little steps to help this team gain confidence.

I think GF hit it on the head before the season began that we have a group of guys that hasn't been a part of a winning program at this level, and that's hard to bring that winning mentality from game to game.

I believe Jake and DSE would make really good role players on a team with a winning record. DSE is good enough to start, but it's likely a confidence thing for him this year. I can't dismiss what's been going through their heads and hearts the past 2 seasons being accustomed to losing regularly.

Hopefully next year, the guys will begin to taste that winning flavor which will help with their confidence.

I think that we played pretty well last night. We had our chances and this year, that is all we can ask for on the road. Once again, I feel as if we were gassed in the second half especially with DSE's air ball free-throw.

I can't remember who they were (thinking DSE, AT, ??) but we had three people miss crucial free throws down the stretch that could have made the game a lot closer.

Next years success or failure will depend a lot on how much work these guys put in this summer and also how much help we get from new player personnel , do not understand why DSE has struggled to finish shots this season because last season he played like an all conference player.

Correction. DSE ended last season playing as an all-conference player, but I recall he struggled a ton at the beginning of the season. I'm not sure he had more great games last year than this year but they have been more spread out this year.

He did start out slow but in the conference he was pretty good and consistent, missing close in shots should not happen even if he isn"t 100%, if we expect this team to be much better next season all of our returning players have to be consistently better.

He has missed a ton of short shots this year which he didn't miss a lot the tail end of last season. Maybe he played better because the focus was on AW, which allowed him to do more.
Though he's played well from time to time, he's been very disappointing this season, along with JP. Not giving up hope for them - just expected more out of them - especially on offense.
My expectation for DSE was 2nd team all conference, and JP to be honorable mention.
Both are nowhere close to achieving that.
