  • Former BU recruit Marshall Henderson

Many will recall Marshall Henderson - he liked Bradley and was very, very close to choosing Bradley but at the last second decided to go to Utah
(rumor had it that the facilities not being fully completed hurt BU enough to make the difference)

At Utah --- he ran into turmoil then the coach got fired, and he then transferred to Texas Tech..
as he was sitting out 2010-2011 their coach got canned and so he left again and went to South Plains (junior college)

I sure hope we're still in on this kid....

Right now South Plains is not only good - they are VERY good, rankled #1 in the NATION (in NJCAA),
they are 26-0 and only a handful of their games have even been close - within double digits...

MARSHALL HENDERSON is their best player - he's averaging 19.3 ppg, and he hits a massive number of 3-pointers (90-209, 43%),
and also gets 2.3 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.9 spg, and hits 85% of his FT's

Don't know if we are after him any more. But he would be a perfect fit for our needs. I would guess our tie to him is gone. It would be awsome to get him though.

No, I don't think we are.

Even if we had to sweeten the offer - I would give the kid a bonded agreement guaranteeing 35 mpg playing time as long as at least one of his legs remained attached...

How many years would he have here? Doesn't matter anyone who can shoot like that we need to bring in.

BTW -- last night Marshall Henderson had a great night - nailed a 3-pointer on each of his team's FIRST three trips down court, ended with 30 pts (5 3-pointers) plus 4 steals, and South Plains won 85-60

Soooo why aren't we trying to recruit him..is he just completely uninterested in Bradley now? I can't say I blame him if he is uninterested but if we aren't in on Juco players exactly like this guy who are we going after?

I'm sure the coaching staff is still following many players in the class of 2012. Sounds like Buovac is one we would take in a heartbeat, I hope he feels the same...

As was mentioned in another forum, he visited and really liked Bradley. Good chance he could end up here if a scholarship opens.

                            Marshall Henderson commits to Mississippi-

His South Plains junior college is 32-0 on the season, and the #1 ranked junior college in the country. They will play in the junior college tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas next week.

                              IMO -- he's aiming too high.....making the same mistake a 2nd time...
I would have liked to see Marshall Henderson in the Valley and at BU -- he'd have been a Johnny Moran/Ali Farokhmanesh/Aaron Zobrist-type player...
but -- he's simply too small to play shooting guard against upper mid-major and major conference defenders...and likely wouldn't be able to defend them either.

I hope the kid proves me wrong - but when he went to Utah - he got a pretty fair chance to prove himself...played in 30 games, took a ton of FG attempts (305)
And yet he hit only 33% from 3-pt and 37% overall...and assists were non-existent.

He was an absolute textbook gunner - but had he been able to help the team win, I suppose there'd still be a spot for him.
But in the one year he was @ Utah - they went 14-17 - they beat a few big-name schools, yet - losing a whole lot of games to nobodies like Idaho, Seattle, Pepperdine, and Illinois State...and finishing losing 8 of their final 12 conference games.

He's a straight-up 6-1 shooter who hit only 33% of his outside attempts - considerably worse than the national average for 3-pt shooting.
He did better in juco but a large number of their opponents like Ranger College, North Lake College, Lamar State-Port Arthur, Collin, Panola, Chihuahua, Coastal Bend, Clarendon, Glendale, Gilbert, Phillips, New Mexico Military, etc...don't have a D-I player on them.....so maybe his shooting is deceptive.
How many times have we seen great shooters come from juco who can't score at the D-I level if they aim too high?
