Can't say he was wrong or right. Don't know what these 2 ex players were saying. Just taking their word I guess is the popular thing to do. Even refs can only take so much.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

The ref said it wasn't for what they said. They were approaching the scorer's table.

If they were, they had no business going there no matter who they were.

Yes they were near the scorers table but that is where their seats were. They did not attempt to communicate with the scorers table during they game. All they did was stand up from their seats that were directly behind the scorers table and complain . Everything I have read or listened to says that no vulgarity was used. They were even with their kids and families.

          Here is a quote........

"According to Hess, `They were ejected for excessive demonstration on several calls as they came right up to the scorer's table.

This happens all the time in arenas around the country. Fans down by the court, and elsewhere, complain about calls. So what if they stand up and complain. Who cares if a fan holds his palms up to imply "what kind of call was that"? They are getting their maintenance monies worth. We have those same type of fans here, especially when "Baywatch" refs our games. Unless refs have been threatened or a fan is grossly out of line, just ref the game and not the stands. Imo this ref was mad that the student he tried to eject 10 minutes earlier was allowed to stay.

I agree with this also, but it doesn't sound like Chico is going to be convinced so I am moving on.

Just giving both sides the benefit of the doubt. I don't care one way or the other.

And the referee drama continues.....now you have 3 ref's who chose to honor or recognize the original ref who tossed the 2 ex players sitting behind the scorers table. These guys need to let it go. The ACC referee was wrong and was reprimanded by the league. Why bring attention to it again. Can somebody say big ego's?

If players have uniform guidelines they must follow (or be hit with a team technical foul before the game) I am sure ref's must have a similar rule. This comes off as 3 guys who say, "look at me, I am making a statement." So much for the saying that a good refereed game is one where the ref's aren't noticed.

Karl Hess, the referee who gained national infamy for ejecting two N.C. State legends from the stands of a February game, declined to work this week's ACC tournament. His colleagues are making sure he's not forgotten. Jamie Lucky, Mike Eades … Continue reading

That is weird. The original official Karl Hess voluntarily chose not to work the ACC tournament. These other refs are treating him like he is a martyr. Why? Did he die or something?
