  • Bradley team trainer leaving

I was informed about this mention is the Journal Star-
Trainer leaving BU: Bradley’s head athletics trainer for the past six seasons and a 10-year veteran of the BU medical staff, Marcus Ohnemus, has taken a position with ATI, a physical-therapy company based in Bolingbrook.
Ohnemus, a native of St. Genevieve, Mo., will be a sports medicine supervisor for athletics trainers at seven Chicago-area high schools and some area clubs. With a young family, the regular working hours the job provided was a big draw, Ohnemus said.

Another loss for Bradley's Athletic Department that will be difficult to replace. Head trainer Marcus Ohnemus has been with the team for 10 years and has done a great job, especially considering all the injured players he has had to deal with. Unfortunately, most qualified athletic trainers can make more money in the private sector than what schools like Bradley pay. He will be missed, and we appreciate the time he spent with Bradley!

I saw the job posting for Head Athletic Trainer last month and thought that was kind of weird. I'm surprised it took this long to make it to the board. Posting says estimated start date is next Thursday the 1st but the posting is still up LOL.

I would not put any of the injuries we have had over the past years on the training room staff. They mainly deal with players after they have been injured. If players see them and they are not injured, it is for stretching out, ice or heat, wrapping ankles, medicine etc. The strength and conditioning coach is responsible for the workouts, weight training, and the "vigorous exercising."

We no longer have Ronnie Wright here so maybe someone decided to make a change because of all the past problems. This despite some of the injuries being a fluke happening or not related to strength/conditioning.

Thanks for clarifying BuB. Then I guess I put the blame on the wrong person. Sorry Marcus!

Ronnie has landed on his feet and has a nice gig...
he is the senior athletic & strength trainer at the Hawaii Athletic Club in Honolulu

HONOLULU (Hawaii News Now)- The Sunrise Slimdown is winding down and The Honey Badgers have a slight lead right now so the Black Widows are cranking up our workouts with a new strength coach. He talked

As nice as Ronnie's gig was in Hawaii - he's got an even better job offer -
I knew it wouldn't be long before he was hired again to work at a D-I basketball program....
in fact the campus he's going to work at now is ranked inside the TOP TEN
in a recent Top Ten BEST (academic) Public Colleges & Universities ranking...he is now at UC Davis.

He'a a fine trainer and I'm glad he's landed on his feet.

B4L - surely you've been reading - but the school Ronnie's going to already had a horribly injury-plagued season in 2011-2012...
They had a bad year on the court but as painful as that was - some of their worst pain was off the court...
Only one player on their roster - a certain sophomore shooting guard who led the conference in 3-pt shooting pct - made it thru the season without missing a game due to injury.
their best scorer - at 15 ppg - missed the entire season...and this season they have a bunch of new players who need to get their bodies ready for D-I play

Oops. That's right, I forgot. It's the Jim Les Jinx... It has nothing to do with Ronnie Wright. .

I'm not sure to say that Davis is better then Hawaii....but I'm sure the opportunity to work with D-I level athletes is much better then a bunch of complaining MILFs or maybe not.

Davis is in a decent place more for where it is located in terms of distance from Napa and SF. I'd have to say Berkeley is in a much better location and school.

Ex-BU Coordinator of Strength & Conditioning, Ronnie Wright has now been officially added to the staff directory and announced as hired by UCD.

I was just referring to T's post of the Ten Best Public Schools article. So there is someone suggesting such a thing!

Cal was at the top of that article...

It's actually interesting how many Cal System Schools are on there - half the top 10.

                              My bad

UC Santa Cruz has a very nice campus as well. It is hard to place a school in a bad location and crappy weather in California. There is also a huge state backing to maintain these schools at a high level. I'm betting the same is for U of I but unfortunately the weather and location is not on their side. Another special state school is UVA (on the list). You would have to believe that is one thing Thomas Jefferson would be please about.
