More craziness in sports broadcasting as reporters try to come up with new puns incorporating Jeremy Lin's name.
This one has some people accusing ESPN of crossing the line into racism-
ESPN Uses "Chink in the Armor" Line Twice-- Did Linsanity Just Go Racist?
VideoUPDATE: According to Fox News ESPN "says it fired an employee responsible for an offensive headline referring to Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin" and the "anchor who used the phrase has been suspended for 30 days." Linsanity just jumped the shark with the ESPN mobile website using the headline a [...]

Lin is getting a lot of press because he's doing well on the Knicks and is a great underdog story after being undrafted and cut from two teams. Being Asian certainly helps. It would still be a big story if he was white or black. Also Floyd MAYWEATHER (not Meriweather) makes far too many uniformed statements.
Thanks for the spelling lesson on MAYWEATHER, but I guess my dictionary is wrong on Oriental.

            WE NEED A LIN LOL

..I think every kid on that bench should have the chance to play some time in games before you give up on him..

Getting back to what I think was Jason's original intent with this thread...
            the answer is...
that it is sure time to find out....play the kid

Just a few hours after wondering if the fascination with New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin was waning, now we've proof that people are still absolutely nuts when it comes to the point guard that wasn't even in the team's … Continue reading

That is ridiculous! I am on a sports card forum and this topic has been discussed at length. Wait a few months and the price will be drastically lower!

that story says Lin has no significant endorsement deals..

but that is not really true -- Jeremy Lin signed an endorsement deal with Nike right out of college in 2010
I am sure it wasn't a HUGE deal but Nike at least got the guy inked and paid him some $$
...now, given his recent success, Nike has decided to extend the deal...

I heard an interview of Linn's agent a few days ago on CNBC. Linn's agent is in no rush to get just any endorsement.

"So "what we're going to do is take some time, we??™re going to use balance in this process" of sifting through potential lucrative contracts," the agent said. "We??™re not going to rush out the gate and try to accomplish the world in one week??™s time."

Lin won't make any choice unless he's comfortable with it, Montgomery said, adding, "the biggest opportunity he has is being a point guard for the Knicks."

It seems that Bradley does have a Lin!
For the second consecutive week a Bradley women's golfer has claimed MVC Golfer of the Week honors, with freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) earning the distinction after an 11th-place finish at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas, earlier this week.

                          Congratulations Christie!

I golf with a guy from Calgary out here in Mesa. When I mentioned that we have a golfer at Bradley from Calgary, he said "Christie Lin" before I could tell him her name. He was glad to see how well she is doing and wants me to keep him informed on her progress. Thanks to Bradleyfans.com, I'll be able to.

More Jeremy Lin news even while he's NOT playing.......

wow - I guess some media types are pretty gullible and easy to impress...

in his short 15-minutes (actually slightly more) of fame, Jeremy Lin impressed enough of the media types to get listed on
Time Magazine's 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE in the WORLD!!!
Time has named the most influential 100 people in the world. The list includes Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and the like ... and one NBA player. It's not LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard or even union president Derek Fisher.

five other athletes are also listed - one is Tim Tebow...another soccer superstar Lionel Messi...

the other three are a bit more obscure to many...
Novak Djokovic, Oscar Pistorious, Yani Tseng

Honestly - if someone is going to be listed as "influential" but is unknown to all but a small handful of people in the world - do you think maybe Time is trying to do some PC-hype of these guys themselves??

I would venture a guess that 1000 times as many people on this planet are "influenced" in some major way or even some minor way by Kobe Bryant than a couple names on this list.
