Good luck to Mo and his Leathernecks. I'm so happy he is turning that program around. We probably wouldn't have wanted to play them this year. He is bringing in good kids and good players to help him turn that mess into something respectable. If my memory serves me right ,he got a committment from Big Michael O that we tried to recruit but couldn't get the clearing house to approve. Michael will really help that program keep progressing to one of the better teams in the Summit league. Get a wiin tonight WIU the Big dance is 2 games away.

Big game for Mo - I've got them on the bubble for an EIEIO bid. Will probably get a chance.

Western Illinois has zero chance at the NIT. EIEIO's? Maybe...

          Breaking it down:

If ORU wins the league tourney, SDSU is a bubble team for the NIT and I don't think they make it. Since I don't see the CIT or CBI taking 2 Summit schools, Oakland squeezes WIU out of a postseason.

If SDSU wins the league tourney, ORU goes to the NIT and Oakland takes an EIEIO spot. So it's a matter of getting one of the CBI or CIT (whichever doesn't take Oakland) sold on Mo. Same analysis applies if Oakland wins, although the small chance of both ORU and SDSU in the NIT would cinch it for WIU.

I've got them projected out for the moment, but a lot of teams do decline bids...

WIU tied 41-41 with Summit League champ Oral Roberts with about 10 minutes left. Go Mo!

Western Illinois pulls the big upset, and knocks off the favorite ORU 54-53

Well, you forgot if WIU wins the tourney. ORU goes to the NIT via the automatic bid, and SDSU and Oakland are left fighting for an EIEIO tourney spot or two. It's possible the Summit League could get four postseason bids, which is probably what the CBI and the CIT were designed to do.

The rate they are going, maybe the Summit League will get a team into the Sweet Sixteen one of these years!

With about 25 conferences who want to take advantage of the EIEIOs, and 32 total bids....it's close.

It is to their advantage they're in MVC territory - with about 421 MVC teams in line for EIEIOs, WIU can become a convenient 1st round road team.
