  • Calling all Perimeter Shooters - Come to Bradley!

Despite DSE having a decent season shooting the 3-ball in the Valley, we are truly in desperate need of an outside threat for next year.

Here are the stats (Valley season only) for the guys we'll probably count on to be our 3-point shooters next season:

    DSE: 30 - 74 = 41%
    JE: 12 - 45 = 27%
    WL: 9 - 37 = 24%
    JC: 8 - 15 = 53%

    Total 3-pt. shooting among these guys: 59 - 171 = 34.5%

As a team, we are shooting 33.2% (8th in the league)
Teams like Drake, Evansville, UNI who are not terribly strong in the post rely on high marksmanship from behind the arc. And they are #2, #3, #4 in 3-pt. FG %, which seems to be a big key to any success.

The MVC middle-pack teams (4-7) are averaging about 36% (this seems low compared to previously strong seasons by the Valley)

Unless JC is to get 20+ minutes next season and shoots the 3 as he has done lately, we desperately need a guy who can shoot around 40% for next season. I know our staff is looking. Just hope it works out!

Can you shoot as well as you pick winners, LB?
If so, do you have any eligibility left?

(Shameless plug for the 2011-12 MVC Regular Season Pick Em Contest and some recognition for the new season to date co-leader!)

Hopefully recruiting a shooter will be easier for BU than finding another upper echelon post player. Hoping Wells-Egolf will shore up the middle...

Actually a front line of Egolf - Wells - Prosser sounds pretty good to me!

Just saw some great three point shooting at a MEAC game of all places on ESPNU earlier tonight. Coppin St. nearly blew a 20 point second half lead, but hung on to win 81 to 78 over Maryland-Eastern Shore. There was something like a combined 25 of 55 three pointers between the two teams made. Maybe that conference needs to send a few of their best three point shooters our way!

As a side note, about 50 or so Coppin St. fans actually stormed the court after MES's half court three point attempt at the buzzer for a tie bounced off the back of the rim! And they were storming the court after a win against a 6-18 team! That's pretty pathetic to say the least!

Didn't realize they started conference tournaments already!

I'm sure there are many others who post on here who have shot Lights out (no pun intended to regular poster "Lightsout") in their day. I only made it to intramurals at IWU. And I DON'T have any eligibility left.

But as long as I'm still eligible to pick winners, I'll give it my all!!!
Hope YOU ALL do the same! (a little pitch for the pick 'em contest for ya' AZ! )

Last night's 0 for 20 three point performance pulled Bradley season average down to 30.2%. It's hard to win college games when you can't hit perimeter shots.
