It's easy to see where Bradley won this game- the offensive numbers are just average- 42% FG %, 38.5% from three, and 73.5% on FTs.
Indiana State shot just 33.3%, and 25% on threes.
The game was won with a superior effort on defense, and a game plan that focused on a more physical interior defense that kept Indiana State from scoring in the paint. Indiana State still outscored Bradley in the paint 28-20, and they outrebounded Bradley 40-36, and had the edge on 2nd chance points 11-4, so I think we can do even better.
Congratulations to the Braves players and staff for the great effort and game plan. This same kind of focus on the defense should work well against every team remaining on the schedule, so let's keep it up!
Kudos to Walt and to some other guys I heard that were working hard on Sunday and all week to get better.
After those two 30-pt. losses last week, they easily could have thrown in the towel. But after losing a ton of mojo, they still worked even HARDER to change what wasn't working!
Definite signs that these guys WANT to put in the work, and WANT to achieve on the court.
I know DSE was putting in tons of shots per day this past week. Didn't really get to showcase it last night, but he has shown he can catch fire.
Hey Benniator, Where are you? I need to hear some insight on how the staff did last night good or bad!! I think maybe it is time for a positive comment from ya Coach Benniator!!
Indiana State beat a ranked Vanderbilt team that beat Wisconsin, who beat Indiana who beat the top ranked Kentucky Wildcats!
meanwhile UNI beat Creighton who clobbered Northwestern, who knocked off Michigan State, who beat Illinois who knocked off #2 Ohio State
so....just who's the best team???
This kind of logic always makes the most sense to me.
For that reason, BRADLEY should be the #1 team in the country!!!
Yet, why are they shown at the bottom of the MVC standings??? Must be a typo on all the college basketball sites.
Hmmmmmm.
The answer must be the winner of Indy St. and UNI.
"We do sorely need some hard-nosed physical defense from this team. Especially in the post...we are way way way way too soft down low. Make a few hard-fouls when we've got someone coming inside for a lay-in. They WILL think twice about it next time!
IF we can play solid defense (like we did for most of the game vs. Mo. State at Carver), it will create some offense for us and help us out. We also need to take care of the ball in transition. I've seen these guys throw the ball away numerous times when we are on our way to a 2 on 1, 3 on 2, and even 3 on 1 fast-break. PLAY TOUGH DEFENSE, VALUE THE BALL, PLAY AS A TEAM; GET A W!
Go Braves!"
Hey Geno...got room for a six figure salary on your coaching staff???? I know a guy...
Good win Braves, lets build on this and grab a couple more Ws before STL.
+1
I also think that the staff made some nice adjustments and this seemed to be a game in which we were not afraid to try something new! Hats off to the staff for this!

umm... See the 12th post on this thread and the time stamp. It's mine...
Glad that you recognize my coaching abilities and analytical skills though!
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
One of the Valley's classy teams and fans....best of luck the rest of the season...
Very much agree Coachdude. From the Larry Bird days to present times, Indiana State has always had classy teams and fans.

I agree ISU blue is one of the classiest programs with great fans. I've been over to Terra Haute several times and always treated with class by their fans at the arena and at eating establishments. Good luck the rest of the year unless we play you again. Go braves

I love that logic!
Defense wins Championships and YNWA!
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!
