both teams struggled from oiutside, Drake especially missed Ben Simons. ISU got great games from Carmichael (18 points, 20 rebounds- POW numbers, and 26 points from Tyler Brown)

    WSU 82

Wichita St. turning it on now that they are alone in 1st place

This was a big win for Missouri St. as far as third place is concerned. That and because they play us at their place Sunday afternoon. Not sure if we have much of a chance of winning in Springfield, but we gave the Bears all they could handle here at home. Figure though that they win this to go 9-6, and at least make a run towards an NIT spot. I don't think the Creighton win is enough to get the Bears a look at an at-large spot as they could not snag a good non-conference win with plenty of chances to do so.

Interestingly, Illinois St. now has a two game road trip against the two teams we have beaten, UNI and Indiana St. They also have Wichita St. left at home, and play Bradley in Peoria. They are capable of beating everyone left on their schedule, but the Shockers will be tough to beat even at home. Plus the three under .500 teams they play are on the road, and as we all know, anyone can beat anyone on any given night in the Valley. So I have no idea where ISU will finish in the standings.

it was a big win for Missouri State but they sure did not impress anyone...
SIU played an absolutely bad game on their own home court scoring just 54 and only one starter in double figures, and SIU missed 70% of their FREE THROW attempts.
And yet Missouri State narrowly avoided getting beat.

The Bears seem to match up well with certain teams and not match up well with others. Seems like they play well on the road, but have trouble matching up in a physical game.
Of their road games they have struggled, (@ BU, @ ISU-Red, @ SIU) I'm pretty sure that the opposition gave them all they could handle defensively.
That may be the key to beating them, as has been the key to beating the Braves.
However, they will be a tough out in St. Louis.

Missouri St has a chance at the NIT. Illinois St doesn't. If ISU knows what's good for the league they'll lay down and let MSU get to the 3 seed.

We play everybody close, doesn't matter if it is Bradley or Creighton, home or road, conference or non-conference, it is coming down to the last two mins.

If Patterson plays the entire game, we are tough for anybody to beat. The Deadbirds were lucky to see us twice with him playing roughly a 1/2 in both games.
