Worried about Geno Ford and The Bradley basketball program? He's been here before! I came across this website and a couple posts that made me laugh and reminded me of som of the posts on here! Geno wound up being a pretty good coach at KSU i'm ready for the future and the future starts tues night at CARVER!

    Thank you
    Geno-

Thank you. Thank you for ending that horrible 20 wins a year streak. Now that's out of the way you can focus on your objective: Taking a once great program and fading into mediocrity.

Thank you for embarrassing the program by playing in the first round of the MAC tournament for only the second time this DECADE, and following that up by barely escaping against a 10 win team (the last time Kent State played in the first round...they beat Central Michigan by 31).

Thank you for taking one of the most talented teams in Kent State's history and turning them into a 19-14 team that couldn't score.

Thank you for running in offense that at times will put the center 45 feet from the basket with the ball in his hands.

Thank you for having one of the worst rebounding teams that my eyes have ever seen.

Thank you for making Kent State worse than Akron.

Thank you for further embarrassing Kent State with that ludicrous situation with the starting lineup against NIU. If you wanted to start Simpson, how was it that Parks ended up as the starter in the book? That tells Kent State fans everything they need to know about you and your staff. You can't even get the correct starting five on the floor.

Thank you for creating a team that can't ever execute a simple inbound pass...a point made perfectly clear by that abortion of a play in which the Flashes couldn't even attempt a shot to tie against Buffalo.

Thank you for wasting 18 seconds on Buffalo's second-to-last possession last night before deciding to foul.

Thank you for destroying a dynasty in one short year.

Most of all, thank you for your resignation. I expect it in less than 48 hours.

    Vindication
Is there anyone who doubts us now? I say "us" because I know there are more people like me, who can't believe the direction that this basketball team has taken. The Flashes now sit solidly in last place in the MAC East at 1-4, 8-11 overall. Kent State just got torched at Akron. A 14 point loss to an arch rival is never good, and is there anyone who would argue that Akron has more talent than Kent State? Of course not. This is probably the most talented team Kent State has ever had, and yet it will be the team that doesn't win 20 games for the first time in a decade. Brett McKnight just torched the Flashes for a career high 29 points and went an unbelievable 10-11 from the floor. Rebounding is nonexistent, the Flashes turn the ball over like they're getting paid to do it, there's no leadership whatsoever.

Are we (again, I know there are others who agree with me) asking too much of Geno Ford? I hardly think so. Ford inherited the reigning MAC player of the year in Al Fisher, an absolute stud in Tyree Evans, Chris Singletary, Rashad Woods (who shot 48% from 3 point land last year but now is relegated to the bench/suspended/where is he now?)...the cupboard was hardly bare. The Flashes were nearly unanimously picked by the media and the coaches to win the MAC. So...what happened?

How can a team have so much talent and be so disappointing? It has to come back to coaching. Geno Ford once said, "When I was hired I was a genius, as soon as I lost a game I was the world's biggest *****." No one expects you to go undefeated, Geno. All we want is the team that competed against Illinois and Texas A&M...not the one that loses to Cleveland State by 26, Akron by 14, and more importantly...manages to go 1-4 in its first five MAC games.

10 straight seasons of 20 wins or more, Geno...and somehow in one fell swoop you've managed to undo everything.

Get it together, or get out. Anything short of a MAC title this season was going to be a disappointment.

    Fire Geno Ford
Eleven games into his coaching career, it has already become necessary to create this website.

This website is solely dedicated to Geno Ford's dismissal or resignation from his post as Kent State University Men's Basketball coach. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. Kent State lost to Cleveland State 67-41. Yes, you read that correctly.

This loss is completely unacceptable. If Kent had been competitive at all, at any point in the ballgame, this website wouldn't be necessary. Kent State doesn't lose to Horizon league teams by 26. Kent State fans will not sit idly by while Geno Ford destroys everything that coaches like Gary Waters and Jim Christian built before him. This program is 13 years in the making. Kent State fans expect nothing short of excellence from our basketball team. The Flashes are expected to compete for MAC championships every single year. The team that Kent State has this season is as talented as any they've had, and yet they were run out of the gym last night. Gary Waters ran circles around Ford. The Flashes were a complete disaster on both sides of the ball.

5-6 is NOT acceptable at Kent State
A 26 point loss to anyone out of the top 5 teams in the country is NOT acceptable at Kent State
    Geno Ford must go!

    What you can do:

Email Athletic Director Laing Kennedy at lkennedy@kent.edu demanding Ford's firing. Or email Geno Ford at gford@kent.edu telling him to resign.
Call Athletic Director Laing Kennedy at 330-672-3120
    Call Geno Ford at 330-672-8448

Kent State plays to win MAC Championships, not to lose by 26 to Cleveland State.

    Ford must go.

Keep in mind that 61% of Geno's wins at Kent State were against sub 150 RPI teams!

This is a completely misleading statement, and I am really tired of seeing it pop up. The reason for this number is because the conference he was in. You can only play the games on your schedule.

Just a quick glance back at the schedule from last year shows that in conference he played 14 sub 150 RPI games. He played 4 games against above 150 RPI teams. There were 3 total teams over the 150 mark in the entire conference, and one of them was KSU. In non-con he played 8 teams above 150, and 5 games against sub 150 teams. He won all games against sub 150 teams and 3-5 against the top 150. Of those 5 losses, 4 were on the road to top 100 teams. (Florida, UAB, Cleveland St, Morehead St)

In 09-10, there were 6 (half) teams at 150 or better in the conference. That would give him an opportunity to play around 8-10 games against +150.

Maybe later I will have time to do a complete breakdown of this myth.

Yeah you're right it is misleading... It's actually 61.7% of his total wins as Kent State head coach came against sub 150 RPI teams.

How about his NCAA tournament experience?

                Thank you Jimmy Fallon!

Seriously though, I think you and others are missing the point. Everyone here believes that Geno can get things turned around. But some of us think he has struggled even for a rebuilding year. Hopefully he will learn from this year and we can begin to see the fruits of his rebuilding efforts real soon.

Nice post. I have my doubts as to whether Geno can turn this around. I very much agree with you about his struggles in a rebuilding year, and I hope he learns from this and we see some quality recruits ASAP. Year 1, I am not impressed. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst for year 2. Expectations need to be set high for year 3!

great find?? how is any way does that compare??

That is a season where Geno Ford won almost 20 games (they won 19!) in his very first year there at Kent State & got a post-season bid -
They were 10-6 and finished among the leaders in their conference, were 13-3 at home and 7-1 at home in conference games,
...they BEAT a few of their opponents by 40 points - and the only had a couple bad losses - one by 27 pts AT Kansas...

THE ONLY way in which this is comparable is that this represents the most unreasonable, ridiculous, whiney, immature criticism in a setting where the vast majority of fans are HAPPY and NOBODY should be complaining at all !!!

I agree we have SOME to build around, but to say that he brought in 3 nice recruits - how can you back that up?
They have been disappointing to say the least. JC is doing alright lately.
If we are to have a winning team 2 years from now, not sure these 3 will be big contributers. Maybe good bench guys. But I don't see 2 of the 3 starting and winning a whole lot of games.

Shayok has had a nice freshman season, if he wasnt starting most of the games aka thrown to the wolves for learning reasons, folks on here wouldnt be so hard on him!

JC was the only bird hunter we had! Also hasnt really gotten a chance to shine. Prolly gonna be a big part of this team the rest of the way might even start against ISU Blue tomorrow.

Hodges looks like a beast but also has not had a chance to shine, To say these 3 are not nice recruits, is just being critical of Geno, Bell should make 4 and the Picket makes 5 so what I should've said is he has brought in 5 nice recruits, I said nice not GREAT or 5 star!
