  • Any Silver Linings For 2011-12?

Every cloud has a silver lining, or so the saying goes.

Well, with the many clouds hanging over the BU program in 2011-12, there have to be many silver linings going unnoticed....

While we pass the time waiting for the start of the 2012-13 MVC BU Season, I'll get things started...

(No sarcasm here please...I'm trying hard to become a good poster, and any sarcasm may push me off the wagon!)

    1. BU got jobbed in only one game so far this season by the zebras! Tremendous improvement over season't past!

    2. GF's 2012-13 recruits seem to be doing well in their senior years

    3. Nate Wells apparently is progressing well for his MVC debut next season

    4. WE appears to be on the road to full recovery and could provide much needed help on the baseline next season

    5. JC seems to be improving as the season goes on

    6. No Fr have had serious iniuries so far this season

    7. Prosser and Lemon are only a month away from concluding their sophomore slumps and should be poised to do better next season!

    8. No run ins with the law for BU players since the MVC season started.

    9. No wiff of grade difficulties for the team

    10. The coaching staff appears to be sticking together under the pressure of a difficult transition, at least publically

    11. Dave Snell achieved a major milestone in his BU broadcast career

    12. PCC Arena scoreboard improvement apparently going well...no scoreboard malfunctions...

    What else

Were year one into a rebuild that had to happen, IMHO.

You can't get to year 3 without getting to year 1.

Our players have dealt with a lot of adversity without incident (so far)

a certain element of our rebuilding began 5 years ago when Broski had to be replaced -- and the massive increase in funding was well underway...
almost every sport and indeed the entire athletic department has undergone a massive makeover in that nearly 5-year interval...and we now have everything up and running with tremendous new facilities and were on the verge of a breakout...
I agree basketball is year-1 in rebuilding but show me where we see encouraging things.......

Please, no negativity here, this thread is only for SILVER LININGS!

This should be a haven for those hoping for a respite from 2011-12 dark clouds.

                      Couldn't agree with you more.
So much pressure on him especially to be the senior leader.
You could definitely see he was trying to put so much on his shoulders the last few games. Hard to let the game come to him when every defender is coming at him.
Very proud of how AW and TB have handled adversity in their senior seasons.

It's a silver lining that the season is almost over and Geno can start working on the Braves comeback next season.

                          Thanks for the thread AZ!

I really try to avoid all the negative threads lately - doesn't do much good, but necessary to vent - I understand.

It IS ABSOLUTELY hard to find a silver lining after the last 2 games, but here goes:

                          1) Good crowds showing up despite dismal record.

                          2) Shayok's intensity - we need more of that. Just play smarter SS!

                          3) We should have help at PG next season, leading to a smoother flow offensively (???)

                          4) Rebounding seems to have gotten better. Of course with so many missed shots, the numbers will be skewed in favor of the opposition.

                          5) We have had the BEST practices among ALL Valley teams the past few years (according to coach's reports), so with all that good practice, it should pay off sooooooooonnnnn!!!!

                          6) Our post players are going to be found on a lot of posters in the off-season with all the nice dunks and layups...that they've given up!

                          7) The mods will overlook my tasteless sarcasm so that this post will not be erased!

Agreed. I honestly have a lot of respect for both of those guys and how they have handled themselves through adversity.
