  • Wessler declares - "Bradley sucked"

This was after the Evansville game. I'll assume that he felt the same way Saturday night.

Actually, Kirk has been silent about the ISU game. Maybe he didn't see it. If he did, I would guess he's feel the same.

The "Searching for some laughs amid the tears" article was posted and discussed several days ago-

Wow, what a vicious hit piece (not).
We are 25 games into the absolute worst season Bradley has ever had, and now Kirk finally says something negative? Where has he been all year? We have "sucked" all year, and he just now finally says 1 single negative word, Bradley "sucked". All year Kirk has written softball columns saying how hard the effort was and what good things are coming, and how "by a light year or two, they're better" (yes, he actually said that). And now only because he gave his word that if Bradley sucked he'd say Bradley sucked, now he grudgingly is forced to utter one single word of insincere criticism.
I've never seen a journalist with such hypocritical and dishonest intentions.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

I don't think he gave a reason, but Wessler didn't make the trip to Normal this year.

actually - note the words - -there is a little discrepancy from what Kirk reported last May..although I expect the apologists to claim otherwise...

Last May he quotes Geno as saying
"If we play a game and we (stink), and you write that we (stink),”

          Now he says...
"Ford told me that if the team sucked and I wrote that the team sucked, he
would have no problem with that. I think it’s time to take him up on that.
          Wednesday night, Bradley sucked."

I see a slight difference between what Geno said in May and what Kirk is saying now...
"we" (coming from Geno) would seem to unquestionably include some coaching component...

"the team sucked" and "Bradley sucked" - seem to aim a bit more criticism at the players...

            "Bradley su**ed?"

Man you just can't find that type of cutting edge linguistic journalism anymore. KW could use a thesaurus..

What's next, KW and posters flipping the bird at the BU coaching staff/players in print and on this Forum?

Hard to fault MIA when crudeness extends everywhere in our society.

Blame for sporting results which don't meet our expectations is usually shared
on successful teams between players, coaches, and management... Same holds true to their successes.

With all the finger pointing going on, just be careful not to use a finger that MIA would be proud of...

I agree with Biff on Wessler. A little strange he wasn't at the ISU game. I am sure he will have some lame reason for not going. Maybe he is out of spin material as to why this BU team is so bad. He has spun the its JL's fault, he has spun the give Geno time line, he has spun the lack of talent line, etc. Think maybe KW is out of spin. We keep hearing how Geno needs this and Geno needs that - looks like Geno needs a course in Coaching 101. This BU team has continued to get worse as the season goes along - lets see you spin that one Wessler!

As I said before - and unlike a lot of the criticism on certain message boards - the kids will respond way better to encouragement so I plan to be there and cheer loudly and support of guys......there's still a few games left then St. Louis -

There is still the injury spin for KW....

To GF's credit, he hasn't played the injury card yet!

However, if Charron Woods goes down during this season's stretch run...

Haven't heard KW or GF spin yet about lack of player 'buy in' or that some players don't always 'hang their hats' every game on playing defense and rebounding...

I wish Wessler would have come to Redbird Arena on Saturday. I miss his commentary on ISU's student section.

then you are not reading their columns -- You don't recall the one about the Braves still trying to "find themselves"...they have put the blame for most of the really BAD losses on the players for not ..

                        -playing defense
                        -buying into the defensive scheme
                        -launching selfish and "unmakeable" shots
-not passing or looking to involve the teammates

In fact, the very words you claim Geno HAS NOT used, are right here in this column...
"I think we’re still searching for one (identity),” Bradley coach Geno Ford said Wednesday,
..Unfortunately, we’ve struggled with consistency and being able to hang our hat on something.”

"..it can be hard to figure out what they’re trying to do."

“The issue for us,” Ford said, “will be.. to make progress with interior defense; we can’t go to sleep in other areas.”
(and this was BEFORE the Evansville game where we gave up like 60 points in the paint!)

Fortunately, being in AZ I am sometimes spared all the gory details from the PJS columnists....Disappointing.....

I had so hoped the 'hang your hat' saying had officially died with JL moving on...

Was GF actually quoted as saying player 'Buy In' too?

If so, then the honeymoon and my support for GF is OVER......

CANCEL MY SEASON TICKETS! MY DONATIONS TO THE HARTMANN CENTER ARE TERMINATED!

Where can I get on the bandwagon?

                            well ...sorta....

"Here, if you buy in, this is the result.??™ So we have to ask them to trust us and trust our system.??™??™
In other words, it??™s time for the Braves to go all in."

The minute he sat down for his first coaches meeting in the Missouri Valley, Geno Ford figured out what he was in for.“You know they say in poker, you try to figure out who the sucker is,’’ the new Bradley coach said.
