can't believe you go to one ISU game and pick their biggest rivalry game - the only game they care about winning all year - then come up with a comparison that's totally lame.

Outside of the BU game at Redbird Arena - all their other games are downright snorers...with barely more than 2000-2500 fans and even half the primo mid-court-lower bowl seats occupied...

By contrast - even the snow game last year with only 1200 people had more noise, more action, and more louds cheering than 95% of ISU games.
If you still choose to believe ISU has a better atmosphere in their arena than BU even in a BU-down year - then feel free, but 99% of honest people who have been both places disagree with you.

How would you know what the atmosphere is at Redbird Arena this year?

How many games have you been?

Reality check- the box score (attendance) doesn't tell the entire picture. Especially when it comes to ATMOSPHERE!

I will take 5K of a loud crowd over 10K of people sitting on their hands any day of the week.

This year will be the 1st time I will get to go to the ISU-BU rivalry at Carver arena since the mid 80's! I wasn't really into the games too much back then.
Too bad they finally decided to have the game on a weekend when I could go, but I'm just praying we don't get trounced on.
Was totally psyched about the opportunity before the season began.
Let's see how much the crowd gets into it this year.
Hopefully we still have some fight left in us.

I will agree with Geno that these kids don't let up no matter how ugly the score gets.
I will say that Geno's attitude toward this team all season has been stellar and not throwing any player under the bus when it would be easy to do. He's continued to stay positive, believing in the kids. Yeah, I know he's making a good chunk of money, but he could be doing it in the wrong way. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure if it's the right word, but "impressive" how we still hustled even down 40 the other night like we were down by 10. Just felt bad for the guys.

how would you know that -- which game in recent memory have you had 10K at to ever make such a comparison??
(you did attend one BU-ISU game where there were over 10K but it wasn't in RA - LINK)
I dare say over the 40 years I have been going to college basketball games, I have taken in quite a few more than you have and have plenty in BOTH arenas - even Horton to compare to

            That's fine and dandy Tornado.

But unless you have been to a game at Redbird Arena this season, you really don't know what's gone on their this season.

I would have to agree. One of the highest decibel levels at Carver was when CR hit his 75 footer, and there was BARELY 5k there.

Where did you come to the conclusion that I've only been to one ISU game? Especially when in the same post you quoted was the statement that I've been there, and I'm estimating, 15 or more times? (And by the way, not all of the games that I have attended there have been Bradley-ISU. Sorry I don't have all of my ticket stubs to show you, but I've even went to super lame games such as ISU-Oakland (Michigan) by myself when I was probably 18, when Oakland wasn't a D-1 team, so yes I've seen snoozers there) Where did you create all of that from? And no, I'm not rich, and I'm only 33 so I haven't been to as many games as many on this board have. But as I stated I've been all over the place to college basketball games, and I have been going to Bradley games my whole life as a life long Peoria resident. (And I used to be a season ticket holder, now I just go to 80% of the home games due to family and religious obligations) So to act like I have no basis to compare atmospheres, and to claim that you represent the 99% while I represent 1%, when we are both just one person, each with differing opinions, is to me belittling and at the very least unkind. Thanks for letting me share my two cents.

Oh and btw, I agree, Chris Roberts shot was the best moment I've seen live as well. Too bad that there were a few thousand "great fans" that weren't there to see it because it didn't come in the season ticket package. Barely eclipsed the Deon Jackson shot that several thousand other "great fans" weren't in St. Louis to see live. I guess what I'm saying is I'd rather watch a game with a few thousand that passionately care than several thousand that couldn't really care less. I remember a home game maybe a decade ago against northern iowa after about a foot of snow and there were probably only 500 people that could make it and they invited us all to sit in the money seats ringing around the floor. It was a special moment-and it got pretty loud too considering the circumstances.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but for years I've felt that I have more fun going to BU road games and getting it going in the upper bowls of opposing arenas than I do going to games at Carver. And again, I thought the SEMO game at the RC was a serious upgrade as to overall excitement and experience. But I'm not a fool. I understand the economics of it all

Sorry for all of this, can everyone tell that I am frustrated with how its all going? I guess it means I still care...

I guess I'm not a "great fan" because I wasn't at the game in St. Louis. Is that what you're saying Big Lance.

I will say that UNI... two years ago was it? When they were ranked, and they came to Carver. That run in the start of the second half, it was amazing, the crowd really got into it for like six solid minutes when UNI couldn't put a bucket in. THAT'S what I want every game!

No, Chico. I apologize if it came across as singling people out individually. I realize many great fans don't live in the area, or absolutely couldn't get off work, or have physical limitations that maybe wouldn't allow that. I meant the thousands of people who show up for regular season games and then magically disappear starting approximately March 1, whether it be in St. Louis or the tournaments that BU used to play in in the good old days (like 3-4 years ago)

No problem. Guess I worded it so it looked like you were singling out. Sorry. I agree, I can't figure out why fans come to every home game and then skip a tournament home game. The Rivermen fans do the same thing.
