SIU - who by all stretches simply do NOT have substantially better talent than we do just held Ryan Sawville to 1 pt & 2 rebs, and Colt Ryan to 13 pts, and beat Evansville.
..and SIUE beat Eastern Kentucky
OK I will give it to you straight, lefty..a loss is a loss but regardless - if it's reported one way then it should remain consistent - not a loss for JL but a moral victory for some other coach...
For years every time we've lost - even if it was a point or two or a close loss to a really good team - it was still a loss plain and simple...
You can google all you want but not once in nine years was JL ever given the courtesy of or given the break of any loss being credited as a moral victory...
They were all losses and JL was held accountable for them...
but now suddenly - even tho they say repeatedly that they DO NOT believe in moral victories - the losses NOW are suddenly softened and called moral victories...and obviously nobody is then to blame because there's good involved.....that's hypocrisy...
I guess I must be only one who sees the hypocrisy in the way it's being reported.
To be fair, I recently read a KW column where he stated Bradley sucked. I don't think you consider using "suck" as softening things. That pretty much says it all.
You crack me up T....I personally don't care what KW says about it.....I think it's a pretty good question that people would have different opinions about.
and no you are not the only one who sees hypocrisy.....it's all around.....
however - this is the way Kirk Wessler reported that conversation last May... "Straightforward and plain-spoken, too.
???If we play a game and we (stink), and you write that we (stink),??? Ford said
at one point, ???I??™ll probably be the first person to tell you, ???You??™re right, we
(stink).???
And let??™s face it, that??™s what Bradley fans want and deserve. Talk will get a
coach only so far. When the ball goes up, he has to deliver a team that
regularly competes for championships, is entertaining to watch, graduates its
players and represents the university and community with class."
"...guard Jalen Crawford and forwards Devon Hodges and Shayok Shayok. It??™s
notable that schools such as Xavier, Wisconsin and Texas Tech also
recruited them.
I think Jalen was a moral victory in himself Saturday night!
And because of that, he needs to be in the next game for 10+ minutes no matter what, because he may just be part of a winning team by his senior year and every minute of PT is valuable in his development. I've liked what I've seen in him when he's been on the court. Just needs to be in longer to get in a flow and to learn from his mistakes too.
Moral victories? Really? Just because you shut down one aspect of the opponents game or limited them in scoring or had a career high, it doesn't mean a whole lot since you lost the game anyway.
When I was playing I don't remember saying "well they only got two goals on us and they usually score 5 against other opponents so good for us". That is a terrible attitude to have from a players or coaches point of view.
That kind of thinking is the tee-ball/everyone gets a trophy even though we never won a game attitude that I can't stand.
Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said..."I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."
