  • Jays no "mid-major"

In this down period for our Braves, I'm finding myself following other Valley teams more closely. I just read Creighton ranks eighth nationally in attendance with a season average of about 16,500. Of course they had 18,400 for the pinkout game against BU, and 17,500 last night against ISU red.

Ranked 13th by AP, 8th in attendance, and with one of the leading players in the nation. The next time the Jays are called a "mid-major" by the talking heads I'm gonna scream.

I'm thrilled Lunardi has them at a 3-seed now, but I have no doubt that when the real brackets are announced Jays fans will be rightfully disappointed with their seeding. History tells me even if they do stellar the rest of the way they should expect a 5 or 6, cuz some also-ran "power conference" teams will impress in the second-weekend conference tournaments. Any takers on that wager?

I would take that bet in a heartbeat. That CU will get a lower seed than they deserve that is.

Can someone answer me as to why Conference USA is referred to as a "major" conference, but the Valley is still considered a mid-major conference? Didn't CUSA go through a bunch of years where they only had one bid to the NCAA Tournament not too long ago? I don't get it.

Regardless though, if anyone calls Gonzaga, Memphis and San Diego St. major teams in mid-major conferences, then the same people better call Creighton the same thing. Someone on ESPN said this was something like the 13th year in a row that CU will finish above .500 in the Valley.

That sounds like a college basketball power team to me!

Team Ratings = TV Ratings = TV Money = No MVC

Bradley MBB would be better off moving it's campus to Chicago, St Louis, Indy, Milwaukee, Kansas City...

Well, it's too bad market size and tv ratings and revenue seem to be the only criteria when it comes to labeling teams. Maybe the pundits would sound better if they just admitted that.

I've been saying this for awhile.

A question for all the MVC historians out there...

Creighton has a legitimate shot at being ranked preseason top 10 next season.

Who was the last team from the MVC to go into a season with that much acclaim?

C-USA has a Championship football game and I'm pretty sure they get an auto berth in a bowl. Football controls College Sports.... good news is though, I'm very optimistic about football in the Missouri Valley. Would love to get on as a consultant after college with the MVC.

Well - I just wanna say... this whole "fraud" known as the NCAA will clearly hose Creighton or any other MVC team and give them a much worse seed than deserved.

The whole Selection process has become such a joke to me. I almost would rather they just flat out say... here's what the NCAA Tourney is gonna be... EVERY team from the BCS 6 Conferences are in, then 1 Auto Bid to winners of conference tourneys to the other 26 conferences.... then the remaining bids will be filled on an at-large basis to make a field of 128.

Right now - BCS 6 have 74 teams, another 26 auto bids from the other conferences, that leaves another 28 at-large from the non-BCS.

Let's just get it over with.

Got to get an MVC AD, or MVC Commish, on the NCAA Ratings Committee like before.
