Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results (Albert Einstein). Pretty much sums up this season.
We keep playing the blame game; that is getting us nowhere but more losses. Let's stop the insanity.
We are frustrated the by style of play in relation to the natural attributes of our players. I think of the cliche that you can't fit a round peg into a square hole...but that is just a myth. http://www.organic-development.com/myblog/you-can-fit-a-square-peg-into-a-round-hole.html To paraphrase about how you do it: 1. You can solve any problem with a CAN-do approach 2. Think differently ... if you think a little differently, you can ALWAYS find a RANGE of solutions. 3. Keep trying! Unfortunately it??™s not possible to find the right solution first time, every time. Sometimes your first idea doesn??™t quite fit. Failures are inevitable bumps on the road to success. Don??™t stop just because the journey is longer than you expected! 4. No such thing as "can't".
I fully support GF, but ultimately I believe the responsibilty rests with him. He is the captain of the ship who is getting paid good $$ to steer it in the right direction. I would hope that before he took this job he scouted the players, watched film, etc. and assessed each player's strengths and weaknesses and how it would fit into his style of play ... OR HOW HE MIGHT HAVE TO ADAPT HIS STYLE UNTIL HE RECRUITED HIS OWN ATHLETES. FIGURE IT OUT and QUICKLY.
Fans...quit beating up our players...if this was a business, the players would have been hired by a boss (JL) based on their specific skill set and how they would fit together as a team to get positive results. Their boss (JL) is fired, their peer leader and mentor (SM) who could have possibly run interference with the new management team transfers, a new boss (GF) is hired with a totally different game plan (other than winning games, of course!); and it doesn't match the skill set for which the employee's (players) were originally hired to do and no matter how hard you try, you keep getting the same results. By this time, you no longer go to work with a spring in your step...you want to stop the bleeding, the frustration, and embarrassment. Yes, they are on scholarship. Yes their education is part of their package as a DI athlete. But the captain of the ship, GF, is the leader making the $$$$$$$$ that needs to get the ship steered in the right direction with the employees (players) that he inherited. As fans, when we don't like the boss or the environment, we can choose to move on at any time. If the players want to play basketball AND retain their scholarship; they can't just walk away. On the other hand, in the business world if a manager is making the amount of $$$$ GF is, they would certainly be held accountable and wouldn't be given 3 years to get the job done.
Just curious how many of 25+ years will be broken this season:
1)Tonights game: (Reynolds)Evansville??™s 31 assists set an all-time record for a visiting team to BU. Their 41 baskets were the most by a BU opponent since fourth-ranked UNLV had 47 exactly 35 years ago in a 107-106 win at Robertson Field House. The defeat saddles Bradley with three losses of 30 points or worse this season, a first in program history. It??™s also the fourth time this season the Braves have yielded 90 or more points, the most since Stan Albeck??™s last team in 1990-91 did it five times.
2)Dec. 28 @ home vs. Wichita - the worst home loss in the Braves??™ 108-year history and the most lopsided beating in the school??™s 60-year MVC membership.
3) On a positive note - Dave Snell 1,000th play-by-play broadcast. THANKS DAVE!
4) Keep adding them up...not pretty.
