I'm not talking about the fan base as a whole, more about the two different "factions" of the fan base. The pro-JL crowd, who's gone from excuse-making to blaming, and the anti-JL crowd, who's gone from blaming to excuse-making. To me, I have an easier time blaming a coach in the 9th year vs. blaming a coach in the 1st year based on general circumstance, so I'm wondering about the rationale of the other faction.

this may be news to you since you seem to have made up your mind already - but I don't blame any coach....not any of the ones we have had nor even any of the ones who chose to turn down the opening back in March and April...
I am and always have been 100% supportive of the team, players, and coaches Bradley has...but there's a declining number who are so...

This being said, I do not question the administration for firing JL. I do question the hiring process of a coach who seems to be woefully inadequate to coach at the MVC level! I wonder if anyone affiliated with the hiring process looked into Geno's record to see that 61% of his wins at Kent State were against teams with a sub 150 RPI? I am very disappointed with what I have not seen from this staff this year! If we are to turn things around, there has to be some accountability!

Just curious how many top 150 RPI wins the previous coach had before he was hired by Bradley? Perhaps a look at that hiring process would be a more worthwhile undertaking as a first step...

Yes.... Who would want a coach that played in the NBA for many seasons and BLEEDS BU Red and White. He loved this school!!! North Carolina State wanted him after the sweet 16 season...but he said "No Thank You," I'm staying at Bradley University. You can learn how to coach, but that playing experience and loyalty can NOT be matched. Maybe next time we can go with the guy the PJS wanted that is a poor public speaker..... But that is not important to coaching - is it? Recruiting, Fund Raising, Public Apperances, BSS & Braves Club functions, etc..

He was asked to rasie millions for a new facility (and he did) and was given one year to use it for recruiting! ONE YEAR? The players that loved it are not even here!

Jim Les was hammered 1000 times more than any coach you can name because of his inadequate resume -

Certainly the hiring process should be examined very carefully. Since the post Albeck era, I have only been excited about one BU hire and that was Jim Molinari. That hire made sense on a lot of levels. After that, my choice would have been Brian Gregory and this time, I liked one of the following possibilities of Jeter, Lusk, and Montgomery. Keep in mind, when JL was hired, where was his salary as compared to the rest of the coaches in the MVC? Don't get me wrong, I think that Bradley had the right idea to up the ante up to attract a decent X's and O's coach, but I think they hired the wrong guy for the salary.

when Les was hired - it was a good job and he wanted the job sincerely enough and badly enough that salary wasn't even much of an issue and Jim was offered a pay scale that placed him near the bottom of the Valley.

Geno starts with a scale that places him among the best and the elite of the MVC, but then that's what it took to land anyone who would take it given the circumstances...

Can anybody tell me what BU's record is with Joanne Glasser as "Captain"?

                    EDIT: I came up with = 76 & 86.

JL was a hire that if it didn't work out, Bradley had a way to get out of the contract without harming the budget of the Athletic Department etc. If fans get impatient in year 2 or 3 of this hire, Bradley would have to pay out big time which in turn could affect who the next hire could be. Like it or not, if this is a bad hire, Bradley is on the hook financially.

I agree with all of your comments except "The wrong guy for the salary" I still think it is way too early to know that. I realize you are focusing on the salary, but I still think it is too early to know.

Before she came to campus we were in the sweet 16 then following year NIT and since then it's been a downhill trend

That is what a message board is for! To be very honest with you, I hope that I am WRONG!

What I am more concerned with is that in every sport where they have made changes, we have failed to see any improvement. In fact, the trend is strikingly downward.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."
