Well, these two teams have officially set college basketball back about 50 years with this game tonight! MSU up 36-35 with 4:30 to go in the game! And MSU on a 7-0 run to boot.
Well, Illinois will be a lot happier since this was a HUGE win for them. Granted by a "pre shot clock" type of score of 42-41! But I'm sure they take it. Illinois was helped out a bit by an injury to MSU leading scorer Draymond Green near the end of the game. It looked like he twisted his knee, but if serious this could damage MSU's seeding in the NCAA Tournament.
Of course both sides had opportunites to win at the end, but neither team wanted to make free throws either.
It looks like the UNI/SIU game could end up with a similar type of ugly score. SIU up 29-28 with 15 minutes left in their game.
But still a resume building win for Illinois, and maybe a job saving one for Bruce Weber. I still don't get why people want him gone. I don't think a lot of people expected Illinois to be an NCAA Tournament team before this season began.

LOL. Illinois is expected to be a tourney team every year....whether thats realistic or not....but this year it was realistic
Brutal game to watch. Thought it was funny that the color guy on ESPN said the reason both teams were missing shots was because the ball they were using was too inflated. I'd like to use that excuse for some of our games this year.

I don't know. I thought they lost a lot from last year's team. Maybe not as much as I thought.
Bruce not only needs to make the tournament this year, but he needs to at least win a game or two. That may be the biggest gripe people have with him, fair or not.

I still don't think Illinois should be in the big dance. They have no bench at all and would of been pasted tonight had MI State not shot a once in a century 24% but still managed to be +13 on the boards even though Illinois shot 13% better. MI State wins it by 25 on a rematch. Illinois is 1 and done in the big dance if they make it.

and Illinois would have won comfortably if they shot better too. The Illini have some very good wins under their belt with OSU,Gonzaga, and MSU...losses to PSU and Minny on the road aren't good but they are tourney killers either....plenty of time for Illinois to enhance or crap on their resume with the schedule they have left....I worry about their consistency......it was nice to see Henry do well in the first half last night

Great question.... I'm glad most of our bosses do not fire us after 8-9 years of hard work. It's time to hit the road because your work is mediocre!!
College coaching is tough with recruiting, scouting, coaching KIDS, public apperances, etc.. They deserve better treatment. "What have you done for me lately" attitude sucks.
Most bosses don't pay their employees over seven figures. Expectations go up as the salary goes up.
Based on your quote... OVER seven figures is eight figures ($10,000,000), or did you mean to say seven figures +?
Either way... This "What have you done for me lately" and "Grass is greener on the other side" can sometimes come back and burn schools and fans. So much for the American way of hard word and loyalty!!

Jason
lol...shooting % is an important stat.
you also sound like a fortune teller.....
I'll predict Illinois as a 12 seed playing Murray St. as a 5 seed (if the seeds still work that way?) I would take Illinois
