Does anyone remember the weather 1 year ago?
Here is the headline from the Peoria Journal Star from January 31, 2011-

Could it be evidence of global warming? Unlikely since some areas of the northern hemisphere are having much more severe winters than usual.

Not to start this argument again, but since it was one of the headlines on Google News today, recently a number of legitimate scientific experts have cast doubt on the severity of global warming to the anger and consternation of some of the alarmists-

I cannot tell you how many people in the fall said something to the effect of "the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cold winter with lots of snow." Spot on prediction. Also I love this weather. A little less wind would be nice, but I guess it's good for the massive wind farms.

That title just doesn't sound right for the name of a golf tournament!

And does anyone remember that groundbreaking game that took place on February 2nd, last year? Only a great win against Creighton that broke our 11 game losing streak in front of 1000 or so of Bradley's most loyal fans! That's why we will beat Evansville this Wednesday night!

I'm not afraid to say what I think on this issue. I think "global warming" has and always will be a big scam! Just because we are having our first mild winter in five years does not mean that the pattern is changing. Alaska had some of the most brutally cold temperatures they have seen in awhile the other night (much of the state hit lows of 30 to 60 below zero!), and as you said dc, other parts of the northern hemisphere are getting hit harder than normal. When one area is receiving above normal temps and little snow, usually other areas are receiving weather just as far away from normal in the other direction. It's simply nature's way of balancing things out.

Btw, I do believe that global temperatures did go up a bit during the late 80's through most of the 90's. But that doesn't mean that man was responsible for it. Again, it's nature's global warming, and nature likes to change the long term weather patterns from time to time.

One of the biggest critics of global warming has been none other than the original founder of the Weather Channel, and former on air meteorologist in Champaign and Chicago, John Coleman. He is now the chief meteorologist at KUSI in San Diego, working at as he calls it, his retirement job. But he minces no words when it comes to his disgust at the global warming movement. Here is a link to many of his blogs and some online presentations debunking the myth of global warming:

Reminded me of the Creighton game in the Fieldhouse in I believe Dick Versace's first season. There was no parking on the side streets around the area. I walked from W. Peoria.

Most meteorologists don't believe in climate change. They study current weather not long term weather patterns...scientists do that.

I'm not here to argue but it is, sometimes, laughable about how uneducated people are on the topic of climate change yet they spew whatever they hear. To each their own but at least have a legitimate argument on it...not one that "science has been wrong in the past" which is very true but equally ridiculous as a point of contention, and I'm not saying this is you.

The ONE THING that bugs me the most about this topic is when people look at one season and use it as fact for proving or disproving climate change. The second thing is that it isn't GLOBAL WARMING because it isn't, the poles are warming. It is scientifically climate change, because that is the discussion...the change of the climate. Lastly, most people don't know, but any respectable source would never admit to current temperatures being proof of climate change. As a matter of fact most credible sources don't believe any effects have taken place, the thing of concern is, for those math guys, the rate of change with regards to temperature and more specifically carbon content in the atmosphere. Cut through all the jargon and what it always boils down to is 1) Do you believe there is more carbon in the atmosphere than 50 years ago? 2) Do you believe carbon in the atmosphere traps low energy heat waves after reflecting off of surfaces?

                              Simple as those two questions.
