o.k. - sorry I doubted you before, bu fan 9.
But there still is a slim 10% chance we beat them if ISU red has a really off game. (that 10% comes from the percentage of games this season where we've looked decent for most of the game)

The problem is, he isnt a D1 shooting guard.

I do see what you are saying though

He is one of the best I have ever seen at getting to the basket, he just needs to finish at the rim! and maybe get a call or two tho he needs to improve at the line, Walt Lemon is future all conference D 1, hope its for us!

I think Jim was getting him with the idea that he was the latest in the line of Boogie clones...however, those three to four guys could finish strong...slam dunk/ESPN highlight reel strong. Whereas Walt...

The offense is apparently designed for the only thing close to a team strength we have, driving, and the guys really aren't big/strong enough to finish, especially since there are no other offensive options to key off on (no post, no perimeter). And then there is his and everyone else's defense, save Charon.

Have you seen any of walts Youtube vids from High school? He obviously is in a tuff spot right now, he seems to be most affected by everything! But this offseason if we can keep him and I hope we do, hes gonna be somthin special! At point or the 2!

He's not a PG or what most would describe as a shooting guard. He's a slasher that can play great D. We should not peg him to any traditional spot but enjoy the ability he can bring to this team when put in the right spot. Putting him at PG I believe takes away what he is great at.

I very much agree! Very well said.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I don't see why he'd go somewhere else. (???) I see his frustration of the season, but he will still get 25 minutes per game next season as Geno has a lot of confidence and faith in him.
I don't see Walt being 1st team All Valley, but he could be a vital part to our resurgence a couple years from now if he keeps a level head throughout the season. He's in a serious funk right now. Hopefully the coaches can help him get through it.

Because he doesn't like to lose and he knows the coach is lost. And he is not a point guard.

Kinda new here, but Walt needs a shot, period. If he is placed at the 2 the defense could sag taking away his penetration because of his poor shot. He has the worst shooting form of about any decent D1 guard I can remember. Whoever taught Walt how to shoot at the grade and HS level did a very poor job. If he could be taught how to shoot properly he would be a huge weapon, but until then... Elbow in and under the ball, Walt.

Walt's decision making is terrible much of the time.....I would think regardless in or out of your so called postion you would learn to make better decisions.....I don't think Walt would know if any coach is "lost" or not

most college kids respond better to encouragement than criticism.....hopefully the fans will lay off the kids and keep supporting them - they get enough trashing from the media as it is.....now the local press has stooped to saying the kids "suck"...

I agree Tornado. I do think Walt is a very good player and has great abilities, but I do not think he is a point. However, if he moved to the two spot he really needs a better shot. Come on Geno and staff, break this kid's bad shooting habits and teach him how to shoot the right way. I don't blame Walt completely for his poor shot... I blame all his past coaches and current one.

In a pre-game interview a couple games ago Walt stated that he worked on his shot all summer... From what I can see is he just continued to pratice bad habits and reinforcing bad muscle memory. Geno... wake up and teach this kid how to shoot. Proper shooting form is a lost art it seems...
