I'm behind Geno 100% but this is time I expect to see a team getting better. I do not expect wins but just a better team. I'll also give him another year to see how he can meld this team into his team. Then in year 3, I expect us to really compete. So in short he has 2 years of my complete support before he shows us what he can really do.

Whether you wanted a coaching change or not, whether you think we'd be competing if Les was our coach or not, whether you think our system is adequate or our players are adequate or not, whether you agree with our local media or not... at the end of the day WE ARE ALL BRADLEY FANS. (Except those few ISU fans over here). That means that no matter what everyone's opinion is, we all want what's best for the team. The fact is that I haven't seen anyone say they don't want Geno as our coach, no matter how bitter they may be over how he got the position. So whether someone is singing praises or criticizing, at the end of the day we all have a common goal, and that is to get Bradley competing for championships and putting ourselves in position to make runs in the tournament.

Since this is Geno's 1st year, I support him but he has raised some red flags with the defense worse than last year, virtually no offensive sets and the refusal to try new lineups when the same players are getting blown out game after game. Only time will tell.

I hope your right that this program gets turned around in 2 years. I remember when Dick Versace in his second year took that team from last place in his first year to first place in the Valley. I think Bradley will be selected to be in last place for the next 2 years (after this year) I hope I am wrong, but I do not see Bradley competitive for at least 3 to 4 years.

Pretty sad that our season has already fallen to this as our only possible bright spot---but having been swept by them tha past 2 yearsI would agree that paying them back with a sweep of our own this year would at least provide a little enjoyment
                  Bradley football--undefeated again this year

I agree somewhat but you are not talking about TB or Dyricus I am sure, I believe those guys can start for any Valley team...so here's a question...
If you could select a couple players off the rosters of Drake, Missouri State, or Evansville - and couldn't take any of their best 2 or 3 players, then who would you take that's sufficiently better than what BU has?

In other words....I think a few of our top players could start on most Valley teams -- yet Drake, MSU, and UE are all hanging around .500 with players such as Jordan Clarke, Jeremy Jeffers, Kraidon Woods, David Smith, Keith Pickens, Christian Kirk, Ned Cox, Lewis Jones, Matt Peeler...all playing as starters and first line subs...
I am not convinced we are in a boat that's so far removed from what the rest of the Valley is in...yet they're around .500......

So what is it then that separates them from us?
My thoughts are that our bench does not give us any help. If we get even minimal production from our bench, we win games:

                        @ Drake
                        vs. Missouri St.

and maybe another, which would put us at 4-6. Then you have to consider our lack of a PG. So with a little deeper bench that gives us 15 ppg, a better PG, we are in the same boat as the other teams.
Still Geno is in Year 1, though Lusk has faired well in his 1st year, but maybe the talent level is higher for the Bears...though it didn't show when we played them.

We have good players but not a good team because we are missing key parts in order to be a pretty good team. Tell me in this conference who is missing so many key parts which make up a team. We do not have a big 5 so JP is taking that role and AT gets pushed around in the paint. We do not have a consistent 3 point dead eye shooter, perhaps you feel that would be DSE, we are playing without a legitimate D1 PG and our depth is apparently not putting up any points. The sum of the parts are not adding up.

AT and JP are not all that different in points and rebs per 40 minutes, then add that AT's shot blocking and shot changing ability is a plus - then you know where I am leading..
Drake hasn't got anyone who dominates in the paint - their best big man scores 6 ppg, and isn't anywhere near the top 10 in Valley rebounding..yet they are beating some of the League leading teams...even tho their best big man had just 4 pts and one rebound in the Wichita State win...
Heck - SIU really doesn't have any players in the Top 15 among Valley scorers and doesn't have but a single player I'd rather have than our own but they've got four times as many Valley wins as we do...go figure..

That's a good point. Maybe a different system than Geno utilizes would have earned us about four or five more wins by now. But I believe Geno feels that whomever he recruits from here on out will be the ones that best fit his system. But that's a risk that may or may not turn out well. And as I have said many times before, good coaches can utilize multiple systems, and use the one that best fits the existing players. So far Geno is not changing his system.

I understand the explanations that have been posted here as to why Geno is stubbornly sticking with his system even if it costs the team wins in the short term because he does not want to waste time starting from scratch again next year. But again, it remains to be seen if this strategy will work. He had better recruit the exact type of players that will flourish in it, or Bradley is going to have to eat a VERY hefty contract! That said, I still wish Geno the best and will be behind him at least for the next year or two.
