He's not the quickest fox in the barn either (physically speaking). He also forgets the strengths or tendencies of who he's guarding, which might help him not get beat so much. He'll get it down sooner or later.

JP is just too slow. Look at him on offense. He does the same move every time. He gets the ball dribbles three times into the defender and goes for the hook in the middle of the lane. If he was faster he could simply drop step or try a turn around or simply drive past him for an open slam/lay up. Unfortunately I feel he is just too slow of a player.

The hook is working in some games but he needs to be more dynamic.

I know it wouldn't be a great stat for basketball but I wish there was a +/- stat for basketball players. In hockey its the greatest stat IMO since you can track who is doing damage to your team.
Plus/minus is in fact a stat kept by most teams. I know JL kept +/- stats for all games, and cumulative +/- for players, and I have heard that this staff does as well.
shaunguth used to try to keep +/- stats on this board, but it is a mammoth task to do it from a play-by-play log, and the BU site does not ever post a play-by-play.
But I suspect the coaches do know the +/- stats for each player, and that may be some of what Coach Ford is referring to in the Dave Reynolds article when he commented about changing the starting lineup- "there??™s not been any competition or game production to warrant that".

Have you watched Geno's stlye of play? He doesn't change anything even when he gets his own players the other coachs in the Valley will eat him up.

I've never seen anything before from Les or Geno so I assumed they didn't keep that stat.

I would love it if they put it on the box score.

I agree. It would be a stat that most fans would like to see.
The NBA has been keeping +/- stats for the past few years- example-

But most college basketball teams do not keep it as an official stat. The teams keep them just for the coaches' use.

+/- doesn't mean as much in basketball. There's a lot of garbage time to skew the +/- of a player.

I'd hate to see the +/- of Bradley players this year...

You can see a play-by-play on all of the "live stats" games through BradleyBraves.com. Its not as nice or easy as ISU's .pdf format they publish after games, but a Bradley pbp does usually exist.

If you can get into the mobile link (vs the normal "chat" link, its a little better format.

OK nothing wrong with a few more physical drills for a team that appears to not go after it.

Now on JP. Plenty of times the guy is busting his tail off getting into position for a pass down low and they guy with the ball just shooting away. Also if he does get into foul trouble then we will see more of AT for those of you that want to see more of him. Just saying.

Yes, if someone really wants to dig into those Live Stats pages, they could calulate the +/- for those games. Unfortunately, Live Stats are not available for many away games, and some home games. So it would still be impossible to calculate the +/- stat for players for the season.
