I haven't been paying as much attention this year, so someone let me know what I MUST have missed...

    Is he red-shirting?
    Is he hurt?
Is he having problems in class?

Otherwise I cannot figure out why he isn't playing...

I am sure you know the answer to that.

        He can't red-shirt fellas. He's already played.

Playing means zero. You only red shirt after the season is over and apply for it based on the facts (Games played and percentage).

I think he does not play to GF's game style!

Your first statement couldn't be further from the truth. Playing means everything. The only exception to playing is a medical redshirt. Once you play a single minute of a single game you're unable to use a regular redshirt.

Your 2nd statement is probably true in one of the two, although I won't pretend to know which one.

I guess teams apply for this 'hardship' when it may not apply. I thought the rule below applied to all redshirts.

In Division I, a student-athlete can apply for a hardship waiver if a season-ending injury or illness occurs in the first half of the season. The student-athlete, however, must not have participated in more than two contests or dates of competition or 20 percent (whichever is greater) of the institution's scheduled contests.

key point is that the player MAY NOT play even one game past the midpoint of the season to qualify even for a medical hardship waiver
(medical redshirt) and every player on the team HAS played in more than one game past the midpoint -
so not one single player can redshirt other than Nate Wells.

As you all know, I am a DS fan, great kid that has done a great job from 4th grade on up. Being his biggest fan though I have to say that from what I have seen, he does not have the speed or quickness to keep up on the defensive end. Knowing him personally, i think he will do one of two things. He will either transfer down to div 2 or work and improve his speed and defense. I still say he can help the team on offense and have lots of assists.
If your reading this Donivine, keep your head up and keep working hard !!!

On most teams scholarship guys sit a lot! That is a fact. DS is a freshman PG and besides a 5 they are the ones that see the least amount of court time. We have seen guys in our league who have put in the hard work and by their Junior year become stars. I heard that he works pretty hard in the gym. I for one have not given up on him and I hope he is surrounded by others who can give him the positive reinforcement he needs. He's a FRESHMAN!

D.S. is a great kid that does work hard, unfortunately you cannot make a player faster or quicker or taller, D.S. has a nice shot but for a small player is not quick and has trouble going against quicker and taller guards, I wish I was wrong but in order for him to see playing time he more then likely should look for better options , Wesleyan is close and a great school.

Donivine is a Freshman, a local kid, and a person who very openly stated that he would honor his commitment to Bradley and the new staff when he did not have to do so after JL was fired.
                        Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Right - and given how the season is going, why not give him a chance? smh

I have to agree, give him a shot, for that matter, lets give some more guys a shot and see if they got what it takes. I believe that Donivine will do the work required, Milo's is in the same boat, not quick enough, only taller. Basketball IQ, I would give that nod to Donivine over most of the players on the team. Again, I would like to say to any player reading what a bunch of message board fans write, to keep your head up and working hard. I remember Jeremy Crouch not being fast enough for his first couple of years and when he was leading the country in 3 pt%, Coach Stowell told him many times on the radio that he wasnt very quick. JC worked through it, others can to, we just have to understand, that not all of them will work through it though.

so it's nice to postulate our favorite lineup, but I personally wouldn't criticize the lineup the coaches choose, since they surely know a whole lot more than I do.
