Disappointing. Two message boards, each dominated by opposite extremes. Little room for thoughtful, mature discussion. Both sides only interested in proving they were right. Through no fault of his own, due to the extremes of his supporters and detractors, hasn't Jim Les become the most devisive figure in Bradley sports history? Go Braves.
I dont think the fan base is divided at all. I dont go to Carver Arena and see people fighting over JL's firing. These boards are a very small sample size. Most fans dont care who the coach is as long as we are winning.
Yeah, Jim Les has absolutely no power over Bradley or any fans' or their opinions. He was just an employee there like the many others who have been swept aside and replaced supposedly in the name of improvement or progress or accountability. But where is the progress? Where has there been any improvement? And when do we start to expect accountability?
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??re better."
And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

and as Da Coach noted - if you go back to Molinari being fired and the intense and even immature bickering that went on to hire the next coach - you'll have to concede it was a portion of the fan base whipped up in sentiment by a negative press that was the divisive force...and it still is....
I didn't say JL was the divisive force. I don't think he was/is. He is just used as the topic for what has become the personal back and forth between a few individuals. Unfortunately players and coaches past and present also get caught in the crossfire. We should be better than that. I do agree though that it is mostly a message board issue and the vast majority of fans either are unaware or don't care.

On what level do you want accountability? The administration? I'm sure they are not happy with the season thus far but do they need to make that public?
The PJS? Are they really going to throw the coach under the bus in year one and risk burning a bridge? You can argue that they did that once, why would they do it again?
The fans in the arena? Should they start booing and chant "fire Geno".
The coach himself? After years of hearing "the players just arent buying in" the coach is just now supposed to start blaming himself for everything?
The message boards? I think this board does a pretty good job of holding Geno accountable.

I am talking about the entirety of the athletic department- and where its headed. I have been a fan and supporter for longer than many here have been alive. I doubt you could find any college anywhere that has spent as much money and fired and hired as many new coaches and athletic department personnel and has as little to show for it as Bradley has. Maybe they can hide their failures in all the other sports they promised great improvements, but they won't be able to hide them in men's basketball. Kirk Wessler had it right (about the only thing he has been right about) in this column a the bottom of the page- http://www.pjstar.com/sports/wessler...e-for-BU-to-be I am tired of giving my hard earned money to support what is clearly going downhill, and there are many others like me. I guess the accountability will have to come at the level of the board of Trustees. We have wasted a great opportunity with the fantastic new facilities, and yet we see almost no improvement in any single sport in the past 4 years. Do you? maybe it will come, but maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I just assumed since you were talking about Jim Les that you were talking about the basketball team. I apologize for the mistake.
Just saw this thread... JD even though we don't agree with some things, I enjoy the respectful debates that we have had on threads. Hope to see you around here soon.
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??s awful hard,???? said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??s a hometown thing. It??s bragging rights.??
