I do remember and I agree some were vicious....

But the guys WILL be part of the new system in the next few years. It would just take that much longer to teach his style to these guys next season if this year we focused on a different style that may suit his players better.

Guys who will be around next season like WL, JP, DSE, SS seem to be good players for Geno's system.
Will be interesting to see how WL will be used next year with KaDarryl coming in.

Somehow, and I'm not really sure how, that team we should be ahead of has won 3 MVC games (and 1 against us...we'll try to even that score in a couple days). We are ahead of that one team in all 4 categories. We are ahead of two other teams in two of the categories, but both those teams are far ahead of us in the remaining two categories. Our total score of 32 (8+8+8+8 ) would put us 9th in the league.
Yeah, I was just playing around with the numbers you cited. Let's just hope anything but 10th is in the cards this year.

This is what i dont get. How much better should we be? We were 0-10 last year. Swap Warren for Brown. We lost Dodie. We lost Will. Shayok has a ton of potential but is still a freshman. Besides that how should we be so much better? Not an attack just an honest question.

I can see your point AP, but as was just alluded to above, with the majority of these players coming back next (whether people like that or not), it stands to reason that he would spend this year establishing his system so that this team is ready to hit the floor running next year when his recruits start coming in. Otherwise Geno would have to start from scratch next year.

Now would we win a few more games if he adjusted to the players he inherited this year? Possibly, but I doubt we would win that many more games. Maybe 2 or 3 tops. And that would not change the type of year we would have.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still ticked off we could not get that win the other night, as all Bradley fans should be. But it's not like we were heading to the Big Dance either. I agree with Geno's postgame comments in that that loss to MSU hurts, and it should hurt. But that it will also be a good thing for the team in the long run so they can learn from it and grow from it. And hopefully that leads to a few more wins this season, within Geno's system that will be already be more established by the beginning of next season.

            • I'd prefer to establish the foundation of the program now rather than wait a year or two for Geno's guys to get here. I'll agree that there could be more wins in another system, but what would 3 or 4 more wins do besides retard the future development of the players who will still here two years from now? I say this with the complete understanding that opinions will differ greatly on this topic.

              • We hired a guy that has never even made it to the NCAA tourney. And paid him that kind of money is just crazy.

there haven't even been anything close to vicious attacks on the current staff -- the worst I see are quesitons about strategy and decisions and everyone is saying give them time...

I seriously dont remember vicious attacks on Jim. Most of what I go back and read is about strategy and decisions. I'm aware that any vicious attacks were probably deleted but can you give examples?

                    • Maybe you missed them, a lot got deleted. There were ridiculously bad-taste and viscious comments about Jim, his appearance, his demeanor, his personality (many from people who didn't even know him), even his family, and more.

Well, that is unfortunate. I will say that I dont think demeanor and personality are off limits when you are a coach. Those things have bearing on the team/game. As for insults on appearance and family, I admit that I must have missed those and it was uncalled for.

BTW, I would call this vicious...

I don't mind saying that I am not a fan of this administration. I have stated that on many a post here. That being said, I do not question the decision of the administration to fire JL. My preference would have been to give JL one more year, but I can see the reasoning for their decision.

I very much agree... It is tough to do on here, but when I have criticized the current staff, I have tried to avoid comparisons with the previous staff.

But, in the end, I was wrong. Jim was not the right guy after 9 years.

So, when the wins kept dropping off, and there were no improvements to be seen I did call for a change.

                          I admit all of that.

I admit I wanted Jim out. No qualms about saying that.

But, now there is a new coach. Same as before, I am supporting him. I am going to give him time to build his team, his program, his vision.

                          No more, no less.

If Geno cannot turn it around, then I will support making another change. I just want BU to be on top of the Valley. Jim got 9 years to try. Let's give Geno at least 3 or 4.

                          Go Bradley!
Funny thing here is that I very much wanted us to hire Brian Gregory back then and was disappointed with the JL hire. I viewed JL as a money hire and he exceeded my expectations as a coach especially early in his tenure. This time around, I would have been happy with Paul Lusk, Rob Jeter, or Mark Montgomery. IMHO two of those three could have been brought in for less money.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Where can I hear the postgame replay? It's not on the BUBraves site that I can find.

A shame that they could not get this one done tonight. Some horrible calls down the stretch. If not for the time left, I think Geno would have gotten a T on that last charge call.
Get the "T" Why not? O wait I dont think SHE would like that! Why go to war for your kids? Why show the stripes you expect to get that call at home? and if not they are gonna dream of GENO FORD!

I really don't care anymore though. JL is gone, and I wish he wasn't, but Geno is here and I think we owe him all our support in his attempt to turn things around. Good luck Geno.
Amen! JL did way to much for this program as a player and a coach and a memember of this city, to be blamed!

I cant understand how people can sit and now want Geno's head or think he is a bad coach, he is doing what he thinks is best, just like JL he has a plan, and it will work out!
