Don't look now but Dana Altman is silencing all his critics...

remember -- Dana came to Oregon and was not on most people's short list of who they wanted for head coach...
Then he ran off a few players, especially the ones who were taking illegal money from agents...and exposed the school to even more NCAA scrutiny..
Then he ran off a couple of their VERY TOP incoming freshmen..
Then amid a lot of football allegations of impermissible benefits their AD steps down and they hire a new one..
and even new controversies arise...

BUT -- Dana now has the Oregon Ducks at 14-5 and sitting among the top teams in the Pac-10...(5-2)..
suddenly fans who have been whining for a couple years have shut up....and taken notice....
Suddenly threads like this appear on their boards...

This is no arguing what a heck of a coach he is! I root for Dana no matter who he is playing unless of course its a certin team from Peoria. But the pac 10 is not that great either so well see what he doesn in the dance and I do see them in the dance!

To me it seems Dana is hard not to like.....I hope he continues to do well.

I've watched a few Duck games and he really has the team playing like one. Once he gets the right talent I'd expect to see Oregon consistently playing for a birth in the dance. Oregon has great facilities and the Pac 10 should be on the upswing shortly.

I know he's gone from the Valley but I am intrigued at how very well Dana has done this year...

he has a minimum of talent and two of his best young players quit mid-season, yet he has the Oregon Ducks in position to possibly win the Pac-12

Just before last night's game against Washington - the Washington press said this...
"Loranzo Romar had the Washington Huskies in position to win the Pac 12 (9-2 currently)"

They were apparently counting on their 4-Star and 5-Star kids getting a win at Oregon but instead Dana's crew absolutely wiped out the Huskies 82-59...

Now FIVE different Pac-12 teams are within a game of FIRST place including Dana's bunch - who may have the most favorable schedule remaining -

As bad as the Pac-12 is this year, you got to admit that there is one heck of a race for first place this year!

there were solid thoughts that they were highly rated and had "prima-donna" personalities - kind of the same "P'Allen Stinnett"-phenomenon - where the mix of lots of talent and a BIG ego do not set well with Dana - and so they got out quickly and headed elsewhere
