If you want fan on the field/court issues: Monica Seles stabbed. Royals coach attacked at US Cellular. Palace at Aubrun Hills (also why players should not go into the stands).

Anyway back to the discussion at hand. So are you insisting that we show streakers and fans rushing on the court/field during games? As much as fans want to be you are not apart of the team. You don't celebrate with the team during other wins, you shouldn't be celebrating during a "big victory". It only takes one drunk fan (and people that are the first to rush generally are) to make a dumb mistake like getting in the face of an opposing team member and starting a fight.
I just used "middle class" as a example of how you cant just pretend something doesn't happen or exist, such as streakers, floor rushers by not showing them on tv. But your right made no sense.

My fellow sox fans attack on the royals first base coach was ridiculous.

Monica was athlete on athlete well she was behind it!

Everyone who was fighting at auburn hills for any reason other than getting there family outta there was out of line.

If you show it on TV or hide in the closet from the stuff in life you dont like will still be there.

But each of these things are not reasons to take away harmless stuff that there is a little risk involved that players and fans enjoy no player has ever has been forced against there will to be involved in a court storming.

How can gatorade showers be stupid, its a part of winning a championship, what would the superbowl be without it? I like it best when the coach out smarts and gets away dry doesnt happen often but ive seen it.

Ive been both a fan on many teams and a player on many teams and BOTH are part of the team! If as a player you think you are above the game or the fans, for me thats sad.

If you are not celebrating with your teams after every victory because you won or for the love of the game and pleasure of watching them play then what are you doing and stop calling yourself a fan lol GO BRAVES

So, what's everyone's response to this then? I was at the Bears-Packers NFC Championship, and if the Bears won, I guarantee the fans would have been on the field. I would have found a way even though I was at the top of the Grandstand

        Rushing the Floor

I can't speak for the Northwestern or Nebraska fans, but I was at the DePaul/Pitt game where the student section rushed the floor afterwards. The kids were into the game and very supportive, and they seemed to be just enjoying the moment.

Seth Davis was the guy who criticized the kids the next day on ESPN, and I couldn't help but think that these guys love to talk about DePaul's miserable record in conference play. Then, when they win a game like that one, they find something to criticize.

The safety issue is valid, but they don't mention safety when they complain about it. They just look at it from an overall record, conference standings standpoint.

I don't see a problem with it as long as arena security makes sure that the people on the floor stay away from the players, particularly the visitors.

Monica Seles was stabbed by a fan. I have no clue how you think she was behind her own stabbing. The mere fact that you are unaware of this incident makes this an unfair argument.

Millions of people watch the Super Bowl every year for the Gatorade shower. It's my favorite part of the game other than the always captivating half time show and coin flip. [Sarcasm]

          Fans trampled: http://espn.go.com/college-football/...state-cowboys-

I doubt you will read this article, but it discusses litigation and injuries following fans tearing down goal-posts. http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/p/pod/...76111.0002.107

This is not just a "someone may get hurt" thing. Fans have been seriously injured. Although I have little sympathy for an injured fan that rushed the field, the potential for a player to be injured is definitely there. Roy Williams took his starters off the court prior to the finish of the FSU game to protect them. Whether that was the correct thing to do or that is the real reason he left the floor early has been debated. The 5 reserves shouldn't have been left out in the chaos.

"Let??™s make sure that we understand that I was not trying to embarrass Florida State by pretending that they could not control the crowd," Williams said. "That??™s not what I was trying to do at all. I was just trying to protect our team. We had an ugly incident at Las Vegas and one of our female managers got knocked down." Here's a gift: '''''''''''''''''''''''........... Please use them as needed. That post was really hard to read as it was full of run-on sentences and half thoughts. Sources could also help your argument. This discussion has nothing to do with politics.

Now I know this is soccer but this started after the winning team won the game and the fans rushed the field. 73 dead might be a reason against rushing.

"There are 11 deaths at my hospital. Two other hospitals include 25 deaths. Three fans have also died in the stadium," Hassan Esnawy, the manager of Port Said's Amiry hospital, said in a televised interview. "Some died of stampede, and others died of suffocation."

Egyptian TV later quoted medical authorities as saying at least 73 people had been killed. Some were beaten, but the Health Ministry reported that most appeared to have died of suffocation, head trauma and stampede-related injuries. TV footage showed fans clashing with knives and other weapons. More than 1,000 people were injured.

Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said..."I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."

Granted but the majority of the deaths were due to suffocation and being trampled. Which could easily happen at any sporting venue where that many people rush the field/court.

ESPN is now picking this up. http://espn.go.com/espn/commentary/s...violence-egypt

Don't remember any of the basketball court rushers carrying sharp objects, weapons etc.
