Even a move like the one Kentucky head coach Joe B. Hall made in 1978 can get the desired response...

In the 1978 NCAA Tournament -- Kentucky faced Florida State and played lazily in the first half
and ALL five starters were benched to start the 2nd half..
Seriously -- he was playing for the chanced to advance and be the National Champions
and he began the 2nd half with subs & deep subs...trailing 39-32...

Then when Hall re-inserted the starters, those guys finally played like their starting positions depended on a little effort and hustle and the went on to a 14-0 run and Kentucky ultimately won the game and then went on the 1978 National Championship....I know - I was there at this game in Knoxville.

What part of illegal don't you understand?

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
