it is because only one of the squads is playing as a team.
Ultimately, players decide if they want to play as a team, or, if they have the predisposition to play as a team.

This one is on the players. Period. A lack of ability (physically or mentally) to compete regularly at this level.

How many times in the past have we seen BU teams play well, then think they are better than they actually are, and lay a stinker in succeeding games?

What I think we are seeing is a lack of LEADERSHIP on the team, someone to kick team mates in the butt and get them to play as a team.

Sometimes I wonder if we posters are actually enablers by going on and on about these players being better than they really are, diminishing the need for them to play smart and hard every second of every game.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting....will make or break GF and BU....

I think Geno needs to do something drastic to beat it into these guys heads that they need to play together as one team, not as the 5 separate players like they do right now...

Maybe start Woods, Stewart, Crawford, Hodges and Milos just to send a message?

I would be shocked if Stewart and Hodges are back next season, it's gotta be downright embarrassing if you can't crack the lineup for longer than a couple minutes in 3 35+ point blowouts and multiple other times being down by 20 points. Have more incoming recruits next season, if they can't crack the lineup this season, they won't next season.

Will give credit to players, who played EU almost even in the 2H.

They didn't totally pack it in when down big at the half.

Just couldn't overcome the FH debacle on the road.

Can't believe this is the same team as we saw in the 2nd half against UNI.
Shooters. DC you are so right on the money on this. How hard is it to find a pure shooter?!?!?!? For each recruiting class, Geno must, I repeat, must find one guy per class with the ability to make a 3 pt FG. Even if they play mediocre D, I don't care. We are so easily defendable right now. If I'm an opposing coach, I'd just pack it in tight and dare BU to beat them from the perimeter.

If you can't shoot the 3 as a team in college hoops the best you'll ever be is mediocre and more than likely you'll be bad.

Bad game for our Braves. Things will get better. I did see something tonight that may have shown that Geno was frustrated with our players. He obviously didn't have much to say in the huddle.

Fairly early in the 2nd half during a full time out he sent the team back out to the floor after a very brief meeting in front of the bench. Our 5 players were standing on the floor just waiting around for the horn to sound and the Aces to break the huddle after a ref gives the 1st whistle. Strange to see but really.....how much more could he say at that point.

Yup. That's what I've been saying all year. Get some shooters in here and we may be halfway decent in a couple of years.

Playing as a TEAM is a mandate that has to come from the Head Coach! However, this staff has installed a basic offensive system that relies on a lot of one-on-one play. Let's go back to the Creighton game. How many MULTIPLE SCREENS were utilized by Creighton to get Mcdermott a quality shot. Then look at our pitiful offensive sets and see how many times we utilized multiple screens for one of our players. You can probably count those multiple screen sets on one hand for the entire game.

I am also getting very tired of Geno's post game comments on WMBD. Show us some fire Geno.

I have been saying this for the last few years, and I was afraid this would happen. I'm afraid it will be just as bad next year unless something changes. PG and big man are important spots no doubt, but you cannot win in college basketball without the 3 ball. Athletes make NBA teams, shooters make college teams imo. RECRUIT SHOOTERS!

Another loss where the stats show 21 turnovers to 13 assists. It is like the movie "Ground Hog Day".

Yes a really bad day!! I turned this game off when Crawford came in the first half and let a slow white guard dribble by him and dished it off for a dunk!! SAD!! Recruit not just shooters but all around players with solid fundamentals and bball iq's...It looks like this team is always on the wrong page with each other no consistency at all..Not one tough minded guy IMHO....

Da Coach - I completely agree with you. Athletes can only take you so far, we absolutely need to recruit shooters. I feel like if we get rebounders and shooters, then we can at least compete in games next year. Hopefully with Prosser, Egolf, Wells, and Pickett next year, we can have a bit of a rebounding presence. We need sharpshooters, and they aren't particularly difficult to recruit as long as you aren't looking for tremendous defense. I don't want to say I'm hoping a scholarship or two will open up next year, but I'm assuming there will be at least one.

tornado - In regard to this comment...

First of all, I'm not sure opinions can necessarily be considered to be wrong. I don't think we're the least talented team in the valley, but I would never say that we're in the top half. Sure, we have 3 or 4 players who can play well on any given day, but we have the worst depth of any team in the valley, and that affects our starters.

Also, if we are losing and it's not because of talent, what do you suggest it's from? Generally if it's not from talent, then the insinuation that one makes is that it's from coaching. For someone that claims to be 100% behind a coach, that seems somewhat cynical.

Anyone who thinks we have top half of D-1 talent needs to watch a lot more D-1 basketball. Then the reality of it will hit home.
