CSUN was 4-1 coming into the game, but they look like they had a bad game. Only 1 starter scored more than 3 points, and 25.6% shooting isn't going to win any games. ISU lead by 20 at the half.
Again it looks like ISU's starters did well, but not much from their bench. King O went 0-5, but didn't hurt his season shooting percentage much. He is now 1-22 for the season.

I recall posters saying that Osiris Eldridge was a really good shooter and that he'd be the Redbirds' best player from the first day he stepped on the court. What happened? Holtz is a far better shooter and PM has trouble finding any playing time at all for Brandon.
At 1-22, wouldn't you think the coach would tell King O to stop shooting?

I was one who said that. He is still their most talented player. Boo and even Dom have said as much.
Osiris is certainly struggling to find his offense right now, but he is playing good defense and he is helping on the glass. His shot will come around. He forced a couple in Florida, but last night he was shooting within the realm of the offense and it just hasn't been going in for him. His attitude is good and his effort is good. He'll be fine.
As for Brandon Holtz. He took a hard fall in practice 2 weeks ago and as a result had a deep bruise in his hip. I've had such an injury and it's extremely painful. He is now rounding back into shape. Holtz hit 3 3's last night and will get more PT as his hip gets back to 100%. It's anything but a coach's decision.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10
Comment in the PJS today, Odiakosa will redshirt.
Isn't that pretty unusual? He didn't redshirt last year, but now takes a resdhirt this season. I cannot think of another instance, and maybe someone can help, of a player using his freshman year then redshirting his soph year when it didn't have a thing to do with injury, just wanting further development down the road.
They must be figuring on not playing the kid at all this year, but what if Dilli and Slack get foul trouble? Aren't they as thin in the front court as Bradley?
This was a game ISU had to win. its a home game, and CS-N should not be beating any Valley team on the road.
ISU held CS-N to 44 when they came in averaging over 90.
But on the other hand, CS-N had allowed 81 points per game (406 pt/5 games) and ISU got only 66, hitting only 41%.
I think against good defense, ISU will still struggle.
yes it is uncommon. I think Porter is looking for long-term continuity and stability and dinma will provide that in time. Plus, it gives him a year to work on his weaknesses (postgame, and hands) while not losing time. This will be good in the long run for both the program and Dinma.

You might be right, but this is still far better offensive production than was seen a year ago and it would appear that the defense is improved also, so I think it's clear that progress is being made.
Time will tell and you may be right on with your analysis. I think compared to a year ago at the same time, this is a much improved team.
They are averaging 62 per game on offense which is up 5 points a game from last year and they are allowing just 56.2 which is down over 1 point per game.
I realize this is a small sample size, but this is a better ISU team than last year for sure. Then again that's not saying a lot. We'll see how the team gels and gets acclimated to college ball. The 3 JUCO's have made a huge impact early on and the freshmen have struggled. Most of the returnees appear to be improved.
We shall see. This Saturday at St. John's is a huge test.
