  • Player of the Week

I am not sure if the Player of the Week awards will be delayed this week due to the official holiday today...... it wouldn't surprise me if the Valley waits 'til tomorrow to announce...

But -- my choices for Valley Player of the Week candidates would include...
Dyricus & Taylor - they have to be among the top candidates but Bradley's losses in those games at Drake & Wichita will hurt their chances..

It was just announced that Brandon Paul of Illinois is the Big Ten Player of the Week

BTW -- in the same story as the POW announcement there's an Illini story saying Sam Maniscalco might play 10-15 minutes vs. Penn State Thursday..

The MVC just issued the release naming the Women's Player of the Week - so the Men's release should be forthcoming..

Grant Gibbs of Creighton is the Newcomer of the Week for the 2nd consecutive week,
but the Player of the Week is not yet announced..

I think Mr. Brown deserves it, and has a good shot to get it!

Nope - It's Drake's Ben Simons for this week's Player of the Week

In three Drake games this week - Drake went 3-0 with wins over Bradley, at Evansville, and ISU..
Simons had the following stat lines...
          vs. BU - 5-11, 3-8 from 3pt, 21 pts, 3 rebs
          vs. UE - 6-11, 3-5 from 3pt, 17 pts, 2 rebs
          vs. ISU - 7-12, 4-9 from 3pt, 21 pts, 4 rebs
          total...three games....59 pts, 9 tebs

          Taylor Brown had games of 28 & 12, 14 & 8, 23 & 8 but of course two were losses..
          TB's total...three games..65 pts, 28 rebs...
Congrats to Simons - and we gotta win 'em as we have learned from history
if we expect our guys to get the well deserved awards...
