Congrats to the Braves on the Win!!!! Great games from Dyricus and Taylor Brown. Walt played pretty well, Jake was very gritty, and nice contributions from Anthony Thompson.....Bradley could have layed down, finding themselves down by 16 pts....but I guess they got tired of getting punched in the mouth and decided to compete...It paid off BIGTIME!!!!

Also, nice job by Coach Ford tonight......really gutsy move calling all those timeouts early...nice job to go to the zone, and recognizing that it was getting us back in the game.....and nice management of Taylor for offense to defense late when he had 4 fouls.

Overall a good win....and man was it fun to watch in the second half!!....Congrats BU!!

I did notice a little change in the offense today. They passed more and seemed to try running set plays as players were not just standing around and trying to go 1 on 1 like they did before. Maybe Geno worked some plays up on the long bus trip back home from Wichita lol.

I honestly didnt see that big a change in our offense Jason.....and Im not saying that to be difficult or mean, or any other reason other than I didn't see it......DSE just caught fire and Taylor was good again like he has been...most of the shots DSE got were shots we can get at almost anytime...now getting those to go in all the time is a different story..but I dont think they were the result of great ball movement or set plays for that matter. Taylor is just a real tough matchup, and if we get him the ball in the right spots good things generally happen...and we have been doing that for the most part the last 5 or so games. We were much better with our turnovers however...no careless passes for the most part.

The biggest change this game from our previous ones in the losing streak was just our overall toughness, willingness to compete, and imposing our will on them on the defensive end of the floor in the second half. That defense, and being able to get stops is what fueled our offense imo......And DSE going Beast Mode for 10 min or so didn't hurt either.

They flew home from Wichita, so I don't think there would have been time.
The bus trip was from Des Moines to Wichita.

            great win for the Braves...
Great point Lefty. I thought that might have been the key to the W...well that and DSE's in the zone stretch from downtown!

I agree with you......there were still times we went one on one but there seemed to be a few more set plays today.....and some we just missed the shot.
Everything looks better when you make shots though

Great game and huge win for BU. DSE played great and so did TB. Eastman was a beast on the boards too.

I'm a little concerned with Prosser though. He only played 15 minutes the whole game compared to 30 for Eastman and 18 for Sticks. I don't think Pross so the floor at all for the last 10 minutes. Obviously Geno wasn't happy with his effort. I hope that wakes him up and he's a force next game.

Anyone notice a similarity in this game to the one a couple years ago to defeat a ranked UNI team at Carver?

It was like night-and-day from first half to second. Although in this one, we didn't hit our stride in the 2nd half until a few minutes in.

Can't say enough about DSE and TB leading the team! Potential 1st and 2nd team guys deserve to have some success from time to time. Can't say DSE was "in-the-zone" quite like Paul from U of I the other night vs. OSU, but his 3's really got us going.
Taylor's 23 were really tough to come by tonight - I would even say it was his best game all year because of the opponent.

Another thing I really like about this team is they don't let a bad call affect the way they play afterwards. They seem to shove it aside and work that much harder.

Loved the Time Outs by Geno in the first half - at least the last 2 after surrendering the 3's. I think that lit a little fire in the Braves' shorts that stayed there the rest of the game.

Our achilles heels - Taking care of the ball, limiting the opposition's consecutive scores, rebounds, and FREE THROWS were our strengths today!
Great job Braves! We're still believing in you this year!

I have to give Geno props. Great in-game adjustment, which is an attribute I have been looking for in Geno. He saw something with UNI that a zone could contain. Generally a 3-pt shooting team will dominate a zone defense, the zone Geno used was a little different. It seemed to float between a 2-3 and a 1-3-1 depending on how UNI was spread. I'm an avid BBall fan but not a coach, though I know we have a few on here. Can any of those coaches enlighten me on what Geno used and how it was so effective against a three point shooting team? I would say we just caught lightening in a bottle but it was too effective to dismiss like that.

It seemed to me that when we play man we tend to get lost on screens....when we played this zone were extremely active, especially with our hands getting deflections. It makes it a little harder to box out so they got a few more offensive rebounds.....the zone disrupted UNI's flow and we got several fast break points off the steals.........I really liked how we played it today.....

lefty your right...the players struggled in man on ball screens...we seemed to be passive on the hedge, maybe more worried about finding their own man again...

                        ...The ZONE...made the difference....

i loved the time outs also, but If it would have turned into a situation where we were short time outs, the BU faithful would be more than just a little hard on Geno , Im sure
Lets surrender ..... Chesty Puller.... "H*$$ NO !!! we have the enemy right where we want them they can't hide"

I think he was trying to send a message and was sincerely getting tired of our team falling behind and playing lazy defense. I don't think Geno does this every game.
