  • Great coaching, great finish- Final BU 78 UNI 67

Geno deserves a lot of credit for switching to the zone. A LOT of credit. It isn't easy to make that adjustment on the fly. He pulled it off brilliantly.

I know it's optimistic, but the next three are winnable...

    Congrats, boys... you earned it!
Don't putt until the cup stops movin'

I like our chances with the 2-3
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

From the other thread which I just deleted:

Congrats to the Braves for their first conference win, and for one of the best 15 minute stretches of basketball I have seen in a long time! That was a work of art!

And speaking of works of art, memo to Geno:

DON'T RUN ANYMORE MAN TO MAN DEFENSE! STICK WITH THE ZONE!

And I called it yesterday. UNI is one of these "schizophrenic" teams that can beat great teams one night, and lose to bad teams the next, as was Creighton last year. Today was a perfect example of that, and within the course of the game as well as the UNI of the first half decided to take the rest of the day off. That's why UNI is probably going nowhere for the postseason other than an EIEIO tourney.

Now that Bradley is done with WSU and has only one more game against Creighton, I think there will be plenty of opportunites for a few more wins this year now that we got the monkey off our backs.

We really needed something to go right for us like today's game. Nice win and congrats to the players and coaches for making the right moves in the early 2nd half.
As was noted, Bradley was down 44-27 with almost 5 minutes gone in the 2nd half and they looked like they were ready to give up. The switch to the 2-3 zone seemed to confuse UNI, though I am not sure why, since they've seen zones before. Nonetheless, Bradley went on a 20-3 run, before UNI made back to back threes. But then Bradley continued to be more aggressive, made their free throws, and UNI went cold from the outside.

TB had 23, DSE had a career-high 26, and Jake was a monster on the boards with 8 rebounds. Walt's 2nd half was night-and-day different from his zero assist first half.

What was so effective in the zone was how active we were....there numerous deflections and very few easy shots for UNI....Walt and TB played excellent defense in that zone and it got our offense. You always look better when you make shots too...

              great win for the Braves...

Great finish is right! This team just made me the most excited I have been for them since the SEMO game! What a great showing by Dyricus. If he could shoot from beyond the arc like that consistently, you could flip this record around to 6 losses not just 6 wins. Great zone defense. Walt still has got to work on his FTs or not call for the ball when it is a close game. Not to be Debbie Downer but that scared the hell out of me when it came to crunch time towards the end. I love this team and am very proud of what they accomplished today! Put the streak behind us and keep on truckin guys!

Agreed with Walt's FT work. He's got a funny FT form, and I'm amazed that he makes any of them! It looks like he's palming the ball or something. SS is another player that has a LOT of FT work ahead of him.

Even though I'm only 1 behind as of right now, don't ever mind losing one like this.

GREAT second half. I know it's been said a lot, but that was probably the best half we've played all year. We scored 54 points, and outscored UNI by 23. Incredible effort from DSE, TB, and Walt. Jake played great as well. Prosser's game wasn't great, but we got the W, and that is all that matters.

I'd also like to point out the crowd was fantastic today. I was one of the few people in the student section, but that didn't matter. It was loud and into the game. You couldn't ask for a better crowd on a Sunday afternoon during the NFL playoffs.
