  • Geno Ford style play on offense

Everyone keeps talkin about Geno's style of play being to much 1 on 1 and such, well here's some past Kent State videos that will show just what were in for once he gets his players here.....

    Re: Style of play!

"Teamwork is not a preference, it is a requirement."
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Jason - Thanks for the links.... GF does get on the refs in his prior life and I like seeing that. Maybe the higher ups at BU said our past coach talked to the refs too much and you are not to speak to them. Would our admin be that hands on to our coach? No way!

I don't recognize that style of play - that team is using a true point guard

In all honesty Petey, I think it's more about choosing the right time to say something. I don't think Geno wants to work the refs too hard when he's coaching a 20 loss team. Save those silver bullets for a time when it could really matter.

I agree. Here's hoping the Bell kid can be that player.

I will agree with you on saving the bullets.

                Great links...thanks for the videos.

I think you can see many of the same concepts that we are seeing here, this season. Obviously it is going to take finding the recruits that are best suited to playing this style.

It's not easy to get 10-15 "rookies" (players who don't know your system) to all learn it and run it immediately. You may get 2 or 3 who jump right on it. I think once you start getting guys specifically for the system it will become much easier.

I also agree on the comments regarding the officials. No sense in getting T's and a bad reputation in year 1, especially while you are going to be struggling. However, the exception to that is you still have to "defend" your team. If you feel something is seriously off or really wrong, I think he should still go at the refs in that case.

I'll be completely honest with you in saying that I've had nothing but great interactions with the administration. That being said, I definitely won't tell you that you shouldn't feel that way.

I used to work for a guy who was always very good to me, but not so good to others. I completely understood why some disliked him, but never joined in the bashing because my relationship was clearly different than theirs. I see this situation in a similar light.
