I know..... So mediocre and unacceptable in the Valley if 4th or 5th! ... I've heard that a few time also.
hahaha. The ol' fire a coach before he can go 14-4 routine. 11-5 without a healthy Sammy?

Careful with that "hahaha." If you knew some friends on the inside you would not be laughing, but understand how close it is to the truth. But for you.... keep the ha's going. It will make you feel better!

If JL went 14-4 we'd be ecstatic! We'd WANT to keep him after that! He'd finally reach the type of peak we wanted him to.

It's not that finishing 4th or 5th in any given year is a bad thing. In a vacuum, 4th or 5th in the Valley this year would be a reasonably good year. The problem is that we did it every year for several years with no indication that there was a higher peak than that. 4th place in itself is not a problem - 4th place representing a peak IS.

Trust me I know about the "evil administration". I think I was laughing more at the 14-4 though.

With a lineup of POB, Cellus, Ruffin, Franklin, Boogie, Andrews, Crouch, JJ, and company the best we could do was 11-7. That was also the last year in recent memory that the Valley was as strong as it is this year. So you can honestly say with a straight face that with the roster makeup of SM, TB, SH, RA, etc. would have outperformed that group from 06?!?!?! Im not even talking about "no higher than 4th" here, you come out and say we could have won 14 games in the league that we have lost 15 straight games in the month of January dating back over 2 years.

            • That (2006) was also the last year in recent memory that the Valley was as strong as it is this year.
To suggest the MVC is stronger this year than any year since 2006 is at the least a bit premature, and not accurate. Yes, the Valley is better than last year when it finished 12th in the conference RPI, but prior to that, the MVC was roughtly where it is now, and we have yet to prove we deserve more than 1 team in the tournament. Even if the MVC does get more than 1 this year, they are not going to finish as high in RPI rank as they did in 2007.-

              Year...........RPI rank......teams in NCAA
              2011-2012.......8................?
              2010-2011......12...............1
              2009-2010.......9................1
              2008-2009.......9................1
              2007-2008.......8................1
              2006-2007.......6................2
              2005-2006.......6................4

              • DC beat me to it - the MVC in '06 was on a completely 'nother level. 11-7 for Les in '06 was actually reasonable given the competition, maybe underperforming only a bit because we lagged a bit early in conference. But that '06 team would've been top 3 in the Valley just about any other year in Les' tenure. As I've said elsewhere, there was a bit of bad luck that his peak team ran into a juggernaut conference.

Apples and Oranges... Valley was very strong that year and some early L's was because of the 6 and 8 game suspension of Franklin and POB. I think we can all remember it was not smooth starting out the valley that year. I never said we would win 14. I'm guessing 11 or 12. I said the top admin was saying 14 and could not fire JL after a conference record like that.

Bud Light??? Given that we have a snow storm, the WSU and UNI games coming up, I hope you have something on hand that is a little better than that?
