I agree, but I think this whole "not his own recruits" thing is getting a little bit too much play. They are division 1 basketball players. It's not like he had to go down and scrape the intramural rosters for warm bodies. The players are plenty capable.

I agree, but it seems like quite a few people don't think we have many/any D-1 players on this team, so I guess we're wrong.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

They were D1 players when we were losing games because of technical fouls, foot stomps, and timeouts. Now, all of the sudden they are not good enough?

Not trying to pick on Walt, but I have thought that the staff has played him out of position since game 1.

Did people think that we were picked too low in the preseason? That we were truly better than that?

I have no problem with people giving their opinions and even being critical, but I just don't get some of the statements I have read.

The truth is we don't have the talent on the roster plain and simple. GF is in his first year of rebuilding a program that had fallen into an abyss. IMO, the only thing we can expect and hope for this season...is to see the effort from everyone involved. We are not going to shock the valley world and turn this around and win the valley, we are not going to dominate anyone, and we are not going to win many games.

We were picked last for a reason...we are not that good. I understand this and I don't go into games thinking we are going to dominate that team. I do expect effort and want to see that...IMO that is what I have seen from the coaching staff on down through the players. They don't give up, they keep on fighting and I love how GF is very critical of himself and the team.
I don't think we were picked last because people thought Geno Ford as such a bad hire that he would turn a 6th place team into a 10th place team.

I guess I have not seen that said here. I certainly think we have D-1 players. But they may not be the best fits for Geno's style.

If I remember correctly, GF even stated in the Hoops preview section that DS was not the "type" of guard he usually recruits. I don't think it's all a talent thing. I think some if a style thing.

Agreed completely. To be completely honest, with Geno's offense we really don't even have a PG. We don't run an offensive scheme really (or we run a 'motion offense' whatever makes you happy), so I don't see why people are hung up on who the 'PG' is. Geno is starting the best players IMO, at least 4 of the 5 best players, so I don't think we need to worry about that aspect of it.

Technically, most of the players playing are veterans except for Shayok and a little bit for Crawford. So this is a veteran group that just doesn't play well together or at least not in "create your own shot" system. They were recruited for Les's system and Bradley obviously will not get better until the roster is overturned with players that Geno knows will work in his system. That will likely take 2-3 years for a full lineup of Geno players.

This year's team reminds me of Les' 04-05 team. A bad season with lots of newcomers. Lots of guys taking bad shots or just driving because they had the ball. Not very much team play on offense or defense. But the next season we went to the Sweet 16.

The experience now will pay off in the future for the new guys just like it did for Les' 05-06 and 06-07 teams, which were his best. Although Les didn't lose any key guys that year and Geno will lose TB, so it will probably be a bit more difficult for Geno.

The Bears lost QB Cutler and it was all downhill from there. 7-3 with Cutler, 1-5 with the mediocre Hanie.

If you don't think QB injuries are critical to a team, look no further than the Colts. 14-2 and 10-6 the last 2 seasons with Manning. 2-14 this season without him.

I have not seen one poster say great only much better which still does not mean great. The problem with this year's team is not talent but depth and lack of a PG, shooter and a large defensive presence. We have right now slashers and um slashers. Get real guys! In order to compete at this level you need a balanced team. This team is far from balanced.

I guess--But I do like the Cubs over-haul--re-vamping from the Top down--new, smart people in charge who have a history of success--so I actually DO believe that they can turn things around in 2-3 years. Cutler going down (and NO back-up) ended Da Bears run...but they are also re-vamping from the Top down, and IF they bring in the right GM--they can return to the playoffs sooner than later. Wish I could find the same optimism for my Braves--but as of now I do not. I don't see us "rising again" until WE re-vamp from the Top down (and I'm not just talking about GF)
                            Bradley football--undefeated again this year

For the most part I agree with you, but maybe I am hoping against hope that we place the responsibility of setting up our offense in the hands of the person on the team who is most likely to distribute the ball in an efficient manner. (DSE) I think that Walt's assist numbers are lower as he has obviously been given the green light by the staff to go one-on-one in just about any situation.
