    I really liked that too

I never thought I would agree with your post but you are 100% correct. We have a hard time passing and catching so the 1 on 1 concept may be whats best for this team. It is sometimes hard to watch because we make so many turn overs but better times are ahead.
I am seeing improvement so in my mind thats a positive.

I don't think a lot of coaches would agree with this. Many have told me that when you are not a good outside shooting team, you need to work on and employ good passing and cutting. For players to go 1 on 1 so much, it gives the defense the advantage of knowing where the shots are coming from most of the time. Once opponents scout more carefully, which is what happens once conference games start, we'll see that those shots get a lot harder.

I agree with you here 100%..Played to many games to know a true team beats the one on one team if the talent is comparable.

I'm really excited for the rematch in Peoria next year. We have another year of experience, everyone's learned Geno's system, we only lose Taylor and Sticks but get WE back, NW will play, and we get TP and finally DB to run the point. With all that I feel like it will be a lot more competitive game down the stretch for BU. But that's just my opinion. Got to start getting away from the 1 on 1 offense though. I think that DB can help with that running the point and if Geno can start getting Crawford some minutes at point now that could be a good fit for him as a back up role provided Bell can start.

              +1

As I and others have stated, we slowed down our offense a little and got nice results. I think if we could adapt a little further and incorporate a team style to our offensive scheme, then I think this team could do some nice things and players like Shayok could shine a little more.

Skip: Eight... and sixteen. How'd we ever win eight?
                Larry: It's a miracle.
Skip: It's a miracle. This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball. You guys. You lollygag the ball around the infield. You lollygag your way down to first. You lollygag in and out of the dugout. You know what that makes you? Larry!
                Larry: Lollygaggers!
                Skip: Lollygaggers.

Oh I agree most coaches would not buy into so much 1 on 1 play. I think almost all of us would agree but what the poster was saying made alot of sense also. We are not very good at passing and catching the ball. Very basic things that you would think by the time you get to this level it ought to be human nature. Maybe it's called lack of talent. You keep repeating we need a PG. Hello we had one but things didn't go his way so he took his ball and ran. This is not a sprint it's a marathon. We have a long way to go and until Geno gets his people in here we will have to live with it. I am seeing improvement and thats the most we can ask for.

Just got done watching a replay of the BU-Michigan game...and have a couple questions for the experts...and just want to play devil's advocate....

after Michigan had taken a 15 pt lead and Bradley was battling back....we're talking the final 3 to 4 minutes...

there were several Michigan possessions where we just let them dribble out almost all of the 35 second shot-clock and we chose NOT to foul...

At the point when this started, the score was 72-61 - so we're down at least four possessions - and we're at 3:46 and we're allowing Michigan to take 20-30+ seconds off each shot clock...
..so Michigan burned from 4:09 to 3:45, then again 3:45 down to 3:17, then once more 2:45 down to 2:16

but even worse -- while we chose to avoid fouling - guess what happened on every one of those possessions - they either got a good shot, got fouled anyway, or got the offensive rebound!!
So how could we have possibly hurt anything if we fouled and put then on the line.
In fact - one of those times - after we let them eat the clock from 3:39 down to 3:17 - we ended up fouling the shooter anyway and HE MISSED THEM BOTH!!
Then why didn't we just use the foul 20 seconds earlier??

Would the extra time have helped? No way to know for sure - but ..

Then Jake makes a 3-pointer and we once again let them eat almost the entire shot clock all the way from 2:09 down to 1:31....why???
Then a few seconds later Jake swishes a 3-pointer but the refs call a foul on Burke and wipe the 3 points off the board!
Had they allowed those 3 pts as it appears they should have then at 1:13 - we'd be down only 8 pts and shooting FT's.....it would have been pretty interesting had we saved those 2-3 minutes that we let them eat away.

Even the final 1:13 we let them eat entirely away with two possessions and did not foul - at that point we have nothing to lose - try it
...after all we made up what would have been a deficit of SEVEN POINTS right before halftime (if we don't allow the technical FT's) in less than 2:30!

                    • IMHO T , I am more concerned about getting our guys in an offense that can create better looks and utilize their talent than what we are currently getting with this one on one style in non-break situations. Michigan was a better team and I think we played very well for most of the game last night. A lot better than I thought we would show at that game. I don't think that fouling etc would have changed the outcome.

                          • Illinois had 10 assists last night compared to our 7, too many times the player passing the ball get an assist when it is just one simple pass that a player puts in a shot from 18 ft. and the passer gets credit for , would really mean something if the player getting the assist actually makes a pass inside that leads to an easy basket.
