Last night was special for me because it was the Bradley game initiation for my one and only son. He sat on my knee and stared at the court for the entire duration...glued to the game completely.

Maybe because I was high on life at the time, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I thought DSE, Walt, Jake, and Charron's defensive effort was sensational.

The future is bright, and last night for me was a the beginning of someone new to share this passion with.

Fair enough.... but how about two horrible calls last night and Gene did nothing but clap. Tell me how you get a "make up" call when it appears you agree with the call. I get it... Gene is trying to keep the boys positive. But everybody knows bad calls need attention for the "Make up" call to happen. I always said Jim needed to ease off the refs on the 50/50 calls. Those are not a "make up" call situation and it just upsets the refs more. But bad calls.... let em know it was a bad call you will get some make up calls. For sure with those refs last night. The refs were not working as a team.

And that criticism was seen here, and was not deleted unless it crossed the line with inappropriate language or attacking other posters.
So my point is that surely those who wanted the coaching change should be able to tolerate a few opinions that point out deficiencies.

I do agree with this. I told the people I was with that JL probably would have been ejected after that string of TERRIBLE calls! I'm not asking that GF take it that far, but a little fire on the sideline would be nice. If not last night.....then when?

That is a great story and to me personally what Bradley basketball is all about! Nobody, including myself, in my family attended or worked at Bradley. I was born and raised in Peoria and was raised on Bradley basketball. I've done the exact same thing with my oldest son, now 15. Last night he was a part of the Friends and Family Basketball Band. It just keeps getting better! Enjoy every single minute of it!

I think that point needs to be accentuated. People seem to forget how much was allowed.

and there were certainly those - some who spoke it directly to my face- who actually cheered for JL to fail
so they could be rid of him -- and a few of them are "deer-in-the-headlights" right now wondering how we got where we are...

Funny how often we have seen a post like "wonder how good we'd have been if we held on to Mo just 1 or 2 more seasons
and he got to coach all those really good players like Gillingham, Gilbert, Granger, Tucker, Tisby, Cello, etc...on the same team."

And comments I have heard about how we might have done had Versace been able to coach Hersey those two more years....
I predict we will see similar posts in a few years about TB, DSE, Walt, RA, SH, SM, TL, and others..
history does seem to repeat itself.........

POINT...... postive thought only goes so far. Better athletes on the other team WILL win on the road and last night shows sometimes a worse team can win on the road.
I didn't say we "WILL" get better, but rather I "THINK" Geno will succeed in getting the team ready to compete. If you think otherwise, then that's a lack of faith in our new coach. I don't expect us to have a chance to win at the end, but to continually improve and show fight every game. An athlete's mentality should be to face the opportunity in front of them and think they might come out victorious. I think that's Geno's attitude toward every game - not, "I hope we stay within twenty points of a top 25 opponent."

I have had positive thoughts about our guys when many others have written them off as guys that couldn't start on any other MVC team. I believe in our guys and still think we haven't put together a string a of games where most of our starters have played well. True - maybe I'm a bit too optimistic that our team has potential to beat the better teams in the MVC at home, but IF we get 3-4 starters playing to their potential in the same game, we will look pretty good. Just hasn't happened yet...but it will.

This is what it's all about Dub! I look forward to bringing my 1 1/2 yr. old son to his first college hoops game in a couple years - hopefully it will be at Carver cheering for BU, though we live in Chicago.
                            Thanks for sharing, man!

That's what's fantastic about the Bradley fan base, as there are many fans who didn't necessarily attend BU but have a connection another way.
Whether it's attending the university, living in the area, being raised on Braves hoops, or whatever else, to be a Brave fan is something special.

FACTS: The Valley is good this year and we are not. Positive thinking will not get us any more wins!! Anybody want to question my prediction of a 1-9 over the next 10 games? Over/under remains at 2 wins!
Speaking of game plan, I found this quote from Geno's mentor in today's PJS curious especially since I have critiqued the offensive schemes of the staff since game 1.

"If you want to be a good team you have to play all kinds of tempos,??? Western Carolina coach Larry Hunter said. ???We like to push it and go, but if you (can??™t), you have to be able to execute and get a good look.???

Air Petey, I love your posts, and I am not a betting person, but if your 10 game prediction started with last night's game, I see an opportunity for two wins in that stretch. Hopefully we are both wrong.
