      less turnovers

      better field goal %

      make more FG's

      make more FT's

LOSE because we make 5 less 3's.....I am going to keep riding this... other teams have a +1 because they have another dimension the 3 point shot.

we beat them in every category except -1 in steals and 3 pt shooting.

about as even as a game as you will see though..

The good... Shayok showed some flashes of what he can be. It was a shame to see him pick up that third foul. JP's positioning in the paint was much improved. Aside from the obvious, Walt and DSE combine for a total of 11 rebounds!

The bad... Will this team ever be coached about the values of PASSING THE BALL around to other teammates when we are in a half court set? I actually saw our first baseline screen of the game at the 10:38 mark in the second half!!! Way too many out of control plays.... Just a flat out bad loss at home!

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Yeah, but we don't need the most talented group to make free throws. If we even shoot 60 to 65% tonight, we win this game.

Definitely a bad loss, but if we kept up our defensive intensity the final five minutes of the game, we don't even need to talk so much about half court offenses or the "1 on 5" method of scoring points. If we make just 2 more FT's and this offense as it is actually looks pretty good, well relatively speaking that is.

Thanks for reminding me......I saw the best play I've seen from him all season on that baseline dunk. Immediately after that play, he was taken out of the game and sat for 4 1/2 minutes. I had a serious case of deja vu going on when that happened!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Curiously, the 1 on 5 method was not in evidence tonight. Free throws aside, if we played with more control, we win this game. imho If we valued the ball more and make some quality passes, I think we win by 8-10 points. jmho

Okay, I'm going to come out and say this... SOMEONE TOOK MY ADVICE! They put the lyrics to the Alma Mater on the big video board. I encourage everyone to stay and sway!
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

Agreed on Shayok, there's a lot of natural ability there. He'll be fun to watch.

I can't believe, 3 years ago, I blasted the decision to make this a 2-and-1 series, thinking it was incredibly stupid to play a roadie there as they provide zero profile value.

Last night was very hard to watch. Not from the standpoint of effort because I thought it was there. I do think we are improving in most areas and that's all I want from this group. They are playing hard and improving but that's no subsititute for talent. Better days are ahead. I'm convinced of that.

Now for my real gripes. Rebounding and mostly our free throws. Rebounding is getting better but still way to many second chance points . Our free throw shooting is totally unexceptable. I thought we were making strides but last night cost us another game. That is at least the 3rd game we have lost due to poor FT shooting. Most HS freshmen teams can shoot 56%. We need to make alot of improvement in those two areas and if we do we may beat some people in the league that we aren't suppose to.

Free throws are an achilles heel again... Yikes 13/23 won't win you many games, regardless of effort!

15/23 could have gotten you a win... Keep on working those FT drills guys....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

                              agree...but a few more comments...

we played in a funk - I often looked out over the floor and thought that we have the five best players out there -- I couldn't say I really would have traded any of our starters for one of theirs...
and yet we allowed open shots, didn't box out at times, and made very bad passes - several that went right to someone in purple and nowhere close to anyone in white.

Also -- coming into the game we KNEW they were weak down low -- they don't have any size and their big guys are not rebounders
(their two biggest starters King & Hollis average 3 & 2 rebs..while their THREE best/leading rebounders are all guards)

and the matchup down low - King vs. Prosser - we should have exploited!
Prosser just didn't get the ball enough -- of his 9 shots only 4 or 5 actually came off passes to him and the rest were putbacks and a fast break.

I say get the ball to Prosser more - and of course we gotta do better on FT's..
This is the fourth loss that we could have won with a tiny bit better FT shooting

They've had it up all season, we pushed hard for it last year and they didnt quite get it done on time, but they have it now!
