before we go any further - let me make mention that there are a lot of coaches who simply never "give" a foul in the first half - there's just too much time
left where you don't know what's going to happen and way, way too often it comes back to haunt you..
let's say Walt fouls on purpose at the end of the 1st half - maybe it saves you 2 pts - then maybe it doesn't - it still doesn't guarantee the other team won't score...
Then by late in the 2nd half - Walt has 4 fouls and then you realize that fould given does hurt you and you have a hard time defending that you did that.
