Why can't free have a FREE stream service like Drexel.....complete with half time programming.

    That was awesome.

I want to be a Drexel fan just because I can watch all their games FREE.

What does it take to put something like this together? JC

They also drew only 1800 fans for a Saturday game, several dozen of which were Bradley fans. There are very few schools that offer free video streaming of their games, mostly schools with little fan support, and fans who would not pay for a subscription video service.

It probably only will happen if Bradley's fan following falls off so much that they feel they need to give away their product. I don't see that happening.

As long as there's demand for a product, like Bradley currently has, there will be people willing to pay for it.

TV rights for some home games may already be contracted to someone else and that may prohibit Bradley from doing what you ask...

I enjoyed the Drexel live stream as well. I have to wonder if in some way, advertising could make up for the cost to put the stream on the internet etc..

Just a guess.. probably not feasible at this time though...
          Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

In sports, I tend to think more broadcasts means more fans in the seats..
It is not the only factor, but the Chicago Blackhawks made a remarkable turn around in attendance (2nd worst? In the NHL to among the best) when the new owner changed policy and allowed all home games to be broadcast on TV locally...The previous owner thought home games on TV were unfair to season ticket holders but it seems the policy change helped.

That attendance turnaround probably had more to do with the team's performance.

As for BU streams, television contracts, web provider contracts, manpower, arena infrastructure and costs are all factors in the distribution of the streams.

I haven't watch a BU stream this year, but I would hope that the sports broadcasting program is involved with producing game streams. Nothing like real world, hands-on learning.
