5 games Monday 12/19 involving MVC teams-

4 games appear to be "gimmes" with home games against cupcake opponents. Creighton at Tulsa might test Creighton a little, though Tulsa (5-6) is not having a very good year. Their RPI of 175 would place them 8th in the MVC and behind Bradley.

Tulsa has blown late leads and lost close games at the end. There's a reason Creighton is only favored by 3. The only one that wasn't close was Wichita State, and Tulsa led that one well into the 2nd half. They need to learn to finish. FT shooting has cost them in most of their losses.

IMO, playing D-III's (Loras), D-II's (Newman) and bottom dweller D-I's (SIUE) at this late stage in the non-con season can't be beneficial.

No word on whether Justin Bocot will be cleared to play while an investigation is going on into an assault he was involved in...

BUT - two other players, Kendall Brown-Surles & Davante drinkard, are expected to dress and play.
KBS was out all 1st semester with academics...and Drinkard was said to headed towards redshirting even by the official SIU info release..

"Drinkard had planned to redshirt the entire season but forfeited that by playing
Saturday. He scored two points, grabbed four rebounds and blocked two shots."

All 5 valley teams win tonight in very comfortable fashion. Creighton wins by 19 on the road against Tulsa, UNI by 36 over Loras (D-III), Wichita State over Newman (D-II) by 49, SIU over SIU-E by 23, and MSU over Texas AM-CC by 13. That's 5 teams winning by a combined 140 points. Pretty expected though given the weak competition today.

Creighton's Doug McDermott had a career high 35 points in their win over Tulsa. He added 7 rebounds as well. He might have a legitimate shot at POY.

If there are 20 teams out there better than Creighton, I haven't seen them. Wow were they ever impressive tonight. I saw Wichita and Creighton both play here in the last two weeks, and there is no comparison between the two teams based on what I saw. Creighton is far better than WSU. Once again, Tulsa couldn't make a free throw to save their life, but it wouldn't have mattered.

Might as well give it to him right now. Doesn't even matter what he does the rest of the week. The Valley is having a love affair with McD & the Jays...and probably for good reason.

                  In MVC play...

Creighton hammers Tulsa and Doug McDermott states his case that he was cheated in the MVC POW award...going 16-23 and 35 points- raising his average to 25.2 ppg, 2nd in the nation and 1/2 pt behind Damian Lillard (Weber State) who scored a mere 28 last night plus 12 rebounds

UNI hammers NAIA Loras with Loras playing the game like it was an intrasquad game giving 16 different players 5 to 20 minutes

Wichita likewise hammers Newman (no, not Alfred E Newman)

MSU beats TAMU-CC by plenty despite getting outscored in the 2nd half 34-25

SIU beat SIUE - SIUE has a freshman Kris Davis who is pretty good -
He scored 22 last night but he's averaging 12 ppg and 58% on 3-pointers (18-31)
                  Bocot still not playing...

Illinois knocked off Cornell & goes 11-1
Sammy had 6 assists and NO turnovers - but didn't shoot well
Meyers Leonard had 19 pts & 16 rebs
DJ was 5-10 from 3-pt range and is now 14-26 over the last 3 games from beyond the arc

Kansas drop one 80-74 to Davidson
