we must limit turnovers -- Walt & DSE teamed for nine...way too many

BTW -- Milos - 5 minutes, 5 pts, and a rebound -- we got to find a way to keep him in more

I agree on Walt & DSE. However, we are a team without a true college PG and I believe Walt, in particular, is getting better as this season goes on. DSE, on the other hand, needs to cut down on his turnovers; I believe he is trying to do too much to compensate for BU not having a true PG.

I like what I've seen from Milos and hope we continue to see more of him.

I would have highlighted Real fan's comments, but I didn't want RF's comments to get mixed into what I am about to post.

I haven't posted on post game links as I haven't seen us play. I have listened on the radio, but IMO, it isn't fair to critique what I think is going on unless I see it for myself. That being said....

Free throws are only one reason we lost the Drexel game. Shot selection and our absolutely terrible offensive schemes lost this game tonight and very much contributed to the 17 point deficit in this game. I watched this game very closely, and if we had a staff that had a clue about offensive schemes, we could have shaved 5 turnovers and had an additional 10 points to that game. Dribble penetration can only get this team so far. This team needs to learn and be instructed on how to PASS THE BALL AROUND to get a good open shot!!!!!!! Watching us on offense is like watching a dog chase its tail.

I will give the staff credit for drawing up a very good play that enabled Jake to hit the three point shot late in the game and for creating an atmosphere that makes this team to never give up. If only this staff could coach smarter on offense
I wolud like to know what makes you such an authority on coaching? How many divisoin 1 bball games have you coached? Since the games have started all you complain about is our offense and Geno's ability to coach it!! Give it a break the team needs to make and take good shots and free throws.. If they would just do that this team may only have 2 losses on the year it is not the offensive or the way the staff coaches it....

I agree Toyota. Right now Geno does not have the right personnel for his system to be consistently successful. He's playing with a hodgepodge of players that he inherited with little opportunity to recruit. I'm not too worried about his offensive scheme given that he's always been a winner with it. In time, once he gets "his guys", I'm confident BU will be successful and exciting to watch.

agree - Geno will be given time to get the pieces in place -- meanwhile I plan to still strongly support our guys and expect to still see some good things down the road..

I don't know of any real Bradley fans who would choose watching the BTN over their own team but maybe that's just the fans I know.

Nice comeback by the Braves but too little in the end. As DC mentioned have to clean up the first few minutes of the half, and second half in particular. Im really glad Geno didn't listen to many experts on the message boards and sit Walt earlier in the season and again today. He has been BU's best player recently. The inside players have to find a way to get it done. Three or four times nice passes were made inside and the big guys either fumbled it or missed point blank shots.

Congrats to Jake for shooting the ball so well. He is a really huge threat when he does that.

I hope there isnt a game on the BTN network Tuesday night and some Bradley fans will make it out to the game.
              Why all of the attacks?

Good question. Don't know how anyone could accuse Tornado of all BU fans of not being a "real fan."

Ok... I agree with you that the team needs to make and take good shots. We are a third of the way into the season. From the beginning I have been critical of shot selection, offensive sets (lack thereof), Walt playing the point, and the helter skelter play not catering to the strengths of this team as limited as this team is. --at the same time giving Geno a pass for this year as far as records go and not having his players-- That being said, the year-to-date statistics back what I have been stating! The year-to-date statistics for the team shows 161 turnovers compared to 117 assists which pretty much is proving my point from the start of the year that we have the wrong system in place for this year's players. To date, only two players on the team are on the positive side with assists to turnovers with Walt close to breaking even. DSE continues to demonstrate that he has the best judgement on the team when it comes to distributing the ball yet we continue to play DSE at the 2?????? (42 assists, 32 turnovers) How many times do we have to witness one of our players taking an ill advised outside shot on a break with none of his teammates around before we have to start questioning why the staff allows this to continue? Why is it wrong to question the out of control style of play when the statistics prove it isn't working? All I am asking is for player development and the staff to look at the stat sheet!!

                      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

                      • People who didn't like the hire will question everything on the new coach. But we actually gave 2 D-1 coaches on the bench so I think they have an idea of what they are doing.

I think they showed tonight that they do not accept a lack of effort sitting WL,DSE and TB all at once... The staff does not take shots or commit turnovers...I think the staff will develope these players by the end of the season into a team that will be hard to beat..Also the last 2 games either TB or DSE were no shows with their intensity!!

                          Comment

                          • All I expect from this team is top-shelf effort every game. Nothing more. Nothing less.

For what it's worth, it seems pretty obvious to me that this offense is catering to the talent of the team. It allows Walt, DSE, and TB to take the ball to the rim and score off the dribble. Running good sets for a horrible shooting team with little inside scoring presence would make absolutely no sense at all.

Yeah, but I thought Geno mentioned on the post game show after the George Washington game that they run in excess of 60 set offensive plays, and he actually would like to get more in but the inexperience of the team is limiting that right now. I think he probably does want to run more schemes, but this is still a young team with some talent deficiencies that can only master so much at once.

Also, as was stated in an earlier thread, THIS is the offense that he ran at Kent State, and THIS is the offense he apparently is going to live and die with irregardless of whether he has the talent to run it or not. And the reason being is that he is trying to establish his system before he gets all of his recruits in here so that the players returning next year are familiar with it. Plus, we are seeing improvements with the players he has here, so it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Then again, he may feel this system better utilizes the talent already here, too. Who knows. I guess there's always two sides to this debate.

Wow! I thought people during the Les era were tired of the "weave, three point shot, weave, three point shot, weave, three point shot" type of offense he ran most of the time. Now we get a coach in here who is trying to implement a "run and gun" type of offense as we try to get the ball into the basket more often. And people are still complaining!
