That's certainly a big part of the problem. Prosser has been really struggling to finish, but that's what happens when you ask a 6' 7' kid to play the 5.
JP not finishing is because he's not going up strong enough. Yes, he's got a nice little touch 7 feet in, but he's got to follow through and simply go up stronger - at the very least to get more fouls called.
I hope to see him start doing this more tomorrow night.
Without a doubt. As Walt goes so goes Bradley. Imagine what might happen once Taylor Brown, Dyricus, and Prosser develop more consistency.
We could be SCARY good!
No, really. I know it doesn't usually work this way at the college level, but at least if we get 4 of our 5 best guys to play a solid game, we should beat the middle-pack Valley teams this season - home or road.
Last game, we just had 2 guys that had solid efforts on the offensive end, with 3 very capable scorers having a poor night.
I don't think we've seen a game where 4 of the 5 have solid games.
When we get DSE, TB, WL, JE to all score in double-digits in the same game, things will be looking even better.
I think DSE & TB are just warming up - still struggling a bit & pressing. But when the conference season rolls in, more consistency will take place.
as I said in the Pac-12/Utah thread - a new coach deserves a little time before people get ballistic...
I like Geno and what he's gotten done in just a few months....
I agree! I'm about letting him run his system for at least 2 whole recruiting seasons before I start voicing my opinion unless he completely falls flat on his face. I just do not suspect he will.

That is the debate. If this team was full of 40% 3-point FG shooters, and had a couple of proficient post players who could catch the ball on the block and finish at the rim, then I would be a huge proponent for multiple half court sets. That being said, this team clearly seems to be most comfortable with the guards attacking the basket off the dribble and scoring from inside of 10 feet. On Tuesday night, everyone should watch and count how many shots the Braves take immediately after receiving a pass (without dribbling first).
Good points. I'm starting to think more and more that this system of the guards attacking the basket is the best way for the team to go right now, unless proven otherwise. Occasionally they run some set plays, and I don't know if that has actually worked much.
Hey...it's a message board...where the land of 10,000 coaches will debate everything from the coach's style of play to the halftime entertainment!
There are people who didn't like what happened to JL, and they are likely to be more critical of Geno than those who wanted a change. I think it's apparent who those people are.
I think we should let Geno and his staff do what they think is best for this team, even though the results may not always be favorable. I trust that better days are ahead...probably not this season...we just need to be patient!
I know this post was not directed at me, but just for the record, I did not like what happened to Les, but I like Geno and am not one of those who has been nitpicking his every move. I know he will do well in due time, and maybe even quicker than most think.
I just wanted to be the 200th reply in this thread....
and I did it...
Go Braves!
Congrats MrCDude!
I don't undertand why we get 4 times the comments after a loss like this compared to the previous game when we pulled out a really nice win @ GW.
smh
We should feel pretty good after this short east coast trip. I didn't expect us to play that well, especially with TB & DSE not playing their best.
PS Does anyone not like that Drexel coach after watching his post game interview? what a douche bag....
Yeah, I meant to mention this too. What a jerk! Not because he was mad at his team for almost blowing the game. That I understand. But he still won the game. Just address the problem in the next practice! That's the great thing about winning a game like this. You can still see the shortcomings show up but within the context of a win.
But to just about diss the Drexel announcer after the game was classless! That's their own announcers who had nothing to do with how their team finished the game. And their coach almost blows off the interview! I recall Coach Mo being steamed after many games, but he NEVER turned on Snell or Stowell during his entire time here. Same for Les.
Oh well, we'll see how long that act lasts over there especially if Drexel has a bad season one of these years!
I agree and have said all along that I really don't care much about wins and losses until year 3 when most of the roster will be GF's players.
But I also don't think anyone is getting "ballistic" by saying WLJ might be even better at the 2 spot with DSE or heaven forbid DS at point guard. That's simple criticism of game/lineup situations.
I have said all along that I don't believe one player that has started every single game should even be in the starting lineup. I hope nobody thinks I'm getting "ballistic" when I say such things. That's simply my opinion. We've been told this player is our "best player in practice". Hopefully, we see that at some point during games, because I still don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing that he's apparently our best practice player. At this point, I'll trust that GF is starting the most deserving players, but we are now 10 games in and I just don't see it.
Yeah, but every coach at every level in every sport is going to play the players that do the best in practice. It's just if there continues to be this disconnect between practice play and game play that a change would need to be made. The problem with us is the depth issue, though I am seeing more contributions off the bench. So I'm sure changes in the starting lineup will continue as players evolve.

That's why I think Geno's system may be the right one after all. Little cosmetic changes like this are the difference between missing bunnies and scoring more points.

And we still only lost by 2 possessions despite this. AND after having a chance to take the lead in the final minute against a pretty decent team on the road! That shows we are improving nicely and may be able to sneak up and surprise a few teams this year. It doesn't mean we will win consistently, especially on the road and against the elite teams in the Valley. But we still should be more competitive as the season goes on, with hopefully a few more wins against the mid level Valley teams.
I have questioned the offensive schemes, which is exactly what the Drexel announcers stated during their broadcast. Sometimes it is nice to listen to an outsider's opinion.
Yeah, since the Drexel announcers are the highest authority on what offensive scheme Bradley should run
