Ugghhh!!! I can't believe this announcer just referred to our conference as the Mississippi Valley Conference!!!

Something tells me he's not going to live this one down for quite awhile!

      Man they look pretty good.

      Ogirri needs a haircut.

Sean Ogirri hit some big shots late in the 2nd half.
Wichita pulled away and held on to beat George Mason 71-66.

All is fine! The Shockers win 72-66. This is a big win for the Valley! We definately needed this one!

Creighton lost at Nebraska 73-61. Nate Funk had 28 points, but not much help from anyone else.

                      Ouch, this one hurts.
Nebraska is not a real good team, but this game was played at Nebraska with 13,000 fans there.

This is a Nebraska team that lost one of their exhibition games to SIU-E who then got whalloped by BU.
And their other exhibition game was to lowly Nebraska-Kearney, and Nebraska barely won that one 74-72.

But Nebraska could end up with 20 wins even as bad as they are because they play one of the cushiest schedules of any major team.

Nebraska's only other win was over Nebraska-Omaha, and the next three teams they face on their schedules are Lubbock Christian, Arkansas Pine Bluff, and North Texas.
Later on their non-conference schedule they also have Savannah State and Alabama A&M.

The Big XII is also really weak this year. Mizzou will be way down, Kansas has already failed to impress and Colorado lost again tonight by 38 to Air Force!

All in all, CU should have won this game!

In the Wichita game, the Shockers' bench scored only 2 points.
This is where Bradley needs to exploit them. As I pointed out elsewhere, I think Bradley has a better bench than many thought. So far in the early season, the bench is contributing and preventing the BU starters from having to play 30+ minutes.

I watched the game, and Wichita outplayed GMU. But Wichita got nothing from their point guards. 1 assist among the point guards Braeuer, Mekel, and Bradley, and 8 points, all from Braeuer. The 3-point shooting in the 2nd half is what won it for them.

I think Creighton scored something like only 20 points in the second half. What happened, the rest of the team decided to take the second half off?

Hopefully that's a wakeup call to Creighton. That and the fact that they can say bye bye to their top 25 ranking this week! Let Wichita State in. They earned their way in today with that nice win at George Mason!

                            MVC Games

If the Valley is going to mantain its status in the top 6 Basketball conferences, it better stop losing to the Lipscombs and its marquee team CANNOT lose to the Nebraskas of this world.
We need some "signature wins." Don't forget George Mason lost key players from last years final 4 team, Shine and the big center, Jai Lewis, are gone.
They may be good, they may not?
All of this will translate into how many bids THE VALLEY gets!
Wichita has LSU and Syracuse in the next two weeks. Bradley, hopefully beats Rutgers and then gets the ILLINI.
Lets get some w's for THE VALLEY in those games.

It is early, but THE BRAVES are looking pretty competetive with anybody in THE VALLEY.
                            If they stay healthy.
