Did anyone watch the ESPN game FIU at Maryland??
Maryland rallied to pull out a really sloppy 65-61 win but a couple things stood out..
-Maryland does not have much talent..
-at least 2 out of every three seats in the lower bowl and even more than half of the primest seats at courtside were barren & empty...and worse in the upper bowl!
They claimed an attendance of 11,679 but it had to be less than 4000

Likewise on the Big Ten Network the Ohio State win over SC Upstate the arena was half empty - what gives!!

I saw parts of the FIU vs Maryland game last night. I was hoping FIU could pull it out. I also noticed the vast amount of empty seats in the arena. I was wondering if Turgeon was longing for the days when he coached the Shockers where Koch Arena was always rocking no matter who the opponent. I really do think the Valley is a special place for hoops with teams like Creighton, Wichita and even Bradley. The fans come out and support the team whether it is a name opponent or not.

I suspect he does have fond memories of the MVC and full arenas.
But for a salary of over $2 million per year, he can live with the apathy at Maryland.
If he can be successful against the UNCs and Dukes in the ACC, the fans will eventually be back.

Yes, lack of talent which was also apparent the night Maryland lost at home to Illinois. Keep in mind when the Terps played Illinois they dressed 6 scholarship players. Not sure if they had the other 2 (total of 8 this year) back last night or not, didn't pay enough attention.

Regarding the seats - first time I've ever seen Maryland arena look like that. I wonder how full the upper section was though.

Keep in m ind it's tough for everybody to draw this time of year with finals and all.

I can see that finals and school break might keep a few students away, but how does that effect other fans?
